Some ungrateful aliens. If they'd just allowed for the crushers to be killed, everything would have worked out fine.

Sounded very intriguing, until they got to the part where they captured the alien ship. The ship was visible? More than half of the way thru the story when we find out that aren is female?? How did the aliens deal with the monsters before, how did they become a star-faring race with those crushers roaming about? Planet "on the verge of a second"?

How about and old fashioned 1920's movie star pancake makeup powder., rig up a powder spray at key doorways. , , ,or use 1980's earth tech that counts particle size in pollution control off-gas streams , ( I worked on them ) . deviations in broadband light spectrum would detect transparent gases of a body walking by.. . .or at the very least . .paintball guns . . you'd see paint splotches walking by. . . .
