How do breeching pods get through to the station if the battle was over? Story was basically over about 20 minutes in. After that was all feel-good filler.

AI is after all, a computer and a computer can only use the information that has been programmed into it. That being the case, the fault is with the AI designers. Not only did they short circuit the story, they once again, did not proof read the story before posting. I’m still upset that the word “hull” does not appear to be in the AI dictionary…

"We've evolved beyond physical combat",... said every civilization that gets their collective asses handed to them. All these "advanced" civilizations have a habit of ignoring basic physics in laws of motion and mass, they also must have failed Chemistry 101 as well. Makes you wonder how they even advanced. The fleet begging for help is stupid enough to continue to belittle human warfare while proving their own version is useless, not wanting to see the truth. The analogies applied to the situation at present is eerie, though likely unintended. It's is too tiresome to follow the ignorance portrayed in this story. The crystalline aliens revel in their hubris, embracing ignorance as though it's an attribute. That makes them stupid, stupid people don't know they're stupid, typically they believe the opposite.

That depends upon the actual rank of the other ship’s captains. Maybe the other ships have commanders and Lt. commanders as captains. In our US Navy a captain is equivalent to a full bird colonel in all other branches of the military. That is high enough to command a task force of many ships.

Well, the aliens weren't wrong. The marines have devolved and DEI women are now combat warriors 😂. I mean the standards have dropped so far in the future that it's acceptable to use inferior weaker soldiers with low levels of endurance. Hopefully in the future we have learnt to stop catering to feminists that are ashamed of being women and their delusions that they are not hopelessly outmatched by men in combat.
