Aliens vs. Predator is a 2010 first-person shooter video game developed by Rebellion Developments, the team behind the 1994 Atari Jaguar game and the 1999 Microsoft Windows game and published by Sega for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game is not a sequel to the previous game Aliens versus Predator 2, but a reboot based on the Alien vs. Predator franchise, a combination of the characters and creatures of the Alien franchise and the Predator franchise.
There are three campaigns in the game, one for each race/faction (the Colonial Marines, the Aliens, and the Predators), that, while separate in terms of individual plot and gameplay, form one overarching storyline.
Marine
The Colonial Marine campaign is far closer to that of a standard first-person shooter. Marines carry a wide arsenal including pulse rifles, flamethrowers, and auto-tracking smartguns. To help navigate the surroundings, marines are equipped with shoulder-mounted lamps, surveying flares to briefly illuminate darkened areas, and motion trackers, capable of providing info on hostile positioning as they move.
Predator
As in the films, the Predator prefers to stalk its prey from the safety of treetops and the gameplay reflects this, the player leaping from branch to branch automatically with the help of a "focus jumping" game mechanic. The Predator has different vision modes, the most recognizable from the films being a thermal imaging scanner, but the player also has different vision modes for spotting Aliens (only accessible from a special mask the player picks up in-game) and viewing the world normally. For example, the Heat Vision mode allows the player to see Marines very clearly, while it renders Aliens nearly invisible; the Alien vision works in reverse, making aliens appear clearly and Marines nearly invisible. Regular vision allows one to see the environment and other Predators better than the former two visions, making battles between two or all three species a tactical juggle to prioritize enemies based on their threat to the player.
The Predator's gameplay is more based on stealth and tactics than the average first-person shooter. The player has to be aware of Aliens, which have the ability to see through a Predator's cloaking device, that may climb up a tree and attack from below as well as taking care not to reveal themselves to marines too early as the marines’ weaponry and numbers are more than a match for the Predator. For long-range weaponry, the Predator can use a shoulder-mounted plasma cannon in addition to a glaive-like disc and a combi stick (or throwing spear). For close-range combat, the Predator has four retractable wristblades on its arms.
The wrist blades allow for the Predator to perform a "trophy kill", a nod to the movies in which the Predators take trophies, usually skulls, from their defeated enemies to show their prowess in the hunt. OXM labeled the trophy kill mechanic as "spectacularly violent" and it has been partially censored to avoid an Adults Only rating in the United States as it was "several measures more graphic" than any other recent games.
The Predator campaign explains how their species considers the war tactics of the human Marines juvenile. A quote from the intro states: "We are old, my brother. Our race is few and scattered. Our ancestry lost to myth. The humans are still children, creatures of desire and hubris, with no comprehension of the long hunt. Still, they make good sport. They have discovered a trophy long locked away. They must not be allowed to find the crucible that spawned our most respected prey. If they succeed, all life will succumb to the crawling dark...".
Alien
Aliens fight in close-quarters combat with their claws and tails, getting as close as possible to their prey as quickly as possible. Aliens have the ability to climb walls and jump from distances without much effort and can blend in with shadows, using darkness to their advantage. Within limited ranges, aliens can seek out prey through walls. These senses also allow Aliens to clearly observe cloaked Predators. In the single-player campaign, players have the opportunity to harvest "hosts". By pinning the host, nearby facehuggers are able to locate and latch on to them, thereby propagating the Hive. Throughout the game, the player also has the opportunity to perform "stealth kills".

I remember having to wait like a whole year after release because every disc I bought never was able to be read. Took me so long and when I finally was able to play, my goodness. I absolutely indulged in that game. The way all 3 campaigns are linked, the weekly ranked matches, which was your only chance to get new skins. I remember ulocking netnhead. I remember so much, I can see ahead of you, I can still predict the NPCs dialog and sound effects. The music, the growling of the xenos. So damn good, every fan of the franchise loved and still loves this game.

@@SakuragiSayo It's challenging to program a smart enemy AI in a game. Typically tough computer opponents rely on a huge pool of HP and/or special conditions to be tough. The special conditions can be extreme deadly attacks or only taking damage in a specific limited way, etc. Neither makes them look smart, though. But then again, video/PC games are a decades old industry already, so you could also theorise that the majority of players might not enjoy a really smart boss enemy.

I miss this type of game so much, Alien and Predator, VS OR NOT, it's such a vast universe with so much possibility and reduced to shit with the latest games. . . Pathetic No story, just nothing, just an F13 game, DBD, with always the same goal without messing around Strongly an Alien vs Predator 4 or a game only on the alien or the predator where we can embody it with a long but very long history or we can evolve with our Xeno or our Yautja

@@great-demon-goki I saw recently on youtube a video about all the weapons of the predator from games and movies. The best choice of weapons for the Predator in a Predator, AVP game... AVP2 (instead of adding they take out like in AVP 2010). And imagine how old the game is. Many developers don't understand the soul of a game and what made that game a good one or a masterpiece. Most of the time they fringe that game/series. On the Alien side Aliens: Crucible would have been a masterpiece and the only one of his type (TPS/RPG) but it was canceled. Aliens: Colonial Marines is a masterpiece compared to Aliens: Fireteam Elite. It has a story, you can hold all your weapons with you with the exception of the heavy ones, has suspense/horror elements and you play solo. Predator: Hunting Grounds... same shit.

@SakuragiSayo
@SakuragiSayo Жыл бұрын
@@jackmehoff5541 The difficulty of each campaign is based on the difficulty setting you select for the game, Easy, Medium, Hard, Nightmare, so on, as well as if you want to get all of the collectibles for the campaign being played. If you choose Nightmare difficulty, but are not trying to get all the Audio Logs (Marine Campaign) it is difficult, but not as much so as it would be should you try collecting all the logs/diaries. Same is true for each campaign. It also depends greatly on your playstyle. If you are like a Barbarian/Berserker style of player, things are extremely difficult for you as the Marine. If you are a Sniping style of player, things are very difficult for you as the Marine since you are stuck with only three weapons, the "Pulse Rifle" which is actually an Assault Rifle (it is fully-automatic, whereas a TRUE PULSE RIFLE fires in bursts, usually of three bullets per burst), a pistol (at least you have infinite ammunition for the pistol?), and a shotgun. None of them are good outside of Short-Medium (not even one step up to just plain medium) range. Those same two principles also apply to Six (Xenomorph Campaign) if you charge-in, you will have your arse handed and served to you on a platter. She is all Melee all the time, but only good in 1V1 situations (except against Androids, they fck her up easily, even in 1V1, without doing a Stealth Kill from behind on them. The campaign/"tutorial" does not teach you how to block Melee attacks. I have been busy with work so I have not played in awhile, you will have to look at the controls pannel/option in the menus to figure out how to block, or by trial-and-error. The Xenomorph campaign almost forces you to have to be a Stealth/Ambush player. The Yautja campaign is the jack-of-all-trades option, and as such is the best one for people to play first given the new game excitement most people experience when they recently get a game they have not played before. With their Cloaking ability, the Yautja is perfect for a Barbarian/Berserker playstyle, with their Shoulder-Mounted Plasma Cannon they are great for a Sniper playstyle. With their default weapons, the wrist-blades they are ideal for a Melee-Oriented playstyle. But with the Smart-Disc (it ricochets off rocks and walls and in tunnels but must be thrown) and the Combi-Stick (basically double-sided spear) they can either throw it (the spear) preferably while within Short-Medium range but capable up to full Medium range or they can use it like you would use a sword or axe thus giving a little more reach than the wrist-blades. I played the Yautja (Predator) campaign first, I did not like it, there did not seem to be much story to it. The second I played was the Xenomorph campaign, I loved it, still play it on occasion when I am bored with or not in the mood for PVP. The initial last one I played (not literal. The literal last one I played was the Xenomorph campaign again) was the Marine campaign. I did not like it either, it seemed too basic/generic for the universe it takes place in. It was like every Alien Movie so far "Aliens bad. Must murder them all." as such I liked it the least. The Yautja campaign was more enjoyable to me than the Marine one. I completed all of them on their highest difficulty modes, but other than to do that, I have never played either the Marine nor Yautja campaigns since the initial/first/original completion of the two. The only one I still like enough to play repeatedly is the Xenomorph Campaign. Edit: Short answer, it can be difficult, but there's multiple factors involved.

I hope they make a PS4 compatible version of this game, like they did for Xbox One (hate Xbox consoles because they crash and freeze significantly more frequently than PlayStation consoles, but have more backwards compatibility than PlayStation). I love the Multiplayer in this game as well as the Xenomorph campaign, usually I have to wait 10 minutes or more to find one though. I adjusted my controls so that the tail/heavy attacks are the right bumper and the left bumper is the light/claw attacks. I also have it set to auto-transition, to make it more believable/realistic. I do not have this game for Xbox consoles. Edit: Hi, Sakura. Hope you're doing well. Been awhile since I have heard from you.
