It makes sense that Tyler wasn't enjoying the game. Watched Markiplier's playthrough, and he kept interacting with the narration and laughing at the bad jokes. In contrast, Tyler's approach to games is much more practical and structured and I guess, solution-oriented as opposed to story-oriented. Anyway, point being that it's okay to not enjoy it, it's not really Tyler's style after all. To everyone who enjoyed it, I'm sure there's a lot of comments about great playthroughs. Would enjoy more Rounds though. EDIT: Nvm he's already played tabs and I'm dumb. [Or TABS- there's a lot of deck-builderish and optimizable content over there. Might be fun. :)]

The premise is you’re investigating a boat which everyone has died on. You have a device that lets you hear and see the moment they died and need to use all manner of clues (location, dialogue, connections between scenes, etc.) to figure out who everyone is and what happened overall. It’s not for everyone but worth having a look if it sounds intriguing.

yeah, the vids of people who dont get it are generally focused more on the solutions than the journey and humor (like you). to enjoy it, you have to be willing to think outside of the box (expect obtuse solutions) and enjoy the humor, which i can admit is a bit harder to do when you start getting frustrated. Yes, the game throws out the occasional meta reference, like the monkey wrench puzzle, but most of the jokes are a bit more broad. The next dimension is a commentary on the scummy practices of mobile games, which i think nearly everyone can understand.
@justapancrepe84553 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about "you have to be willing to think outside of the box?" Puzzle games are all about thinking outside the box and that's the type of games Tyler plays. If you consider getting an ice cream cone from a static TV or painting an eyeball red so that it looks like a cherry as a means of "thinking outside of the box" then I don't know what else to say. That's just rubbish and nonsense. Those are my two cents on that regard.
@cullenlatham23663 жыл бұрын
@@justapancrepe8455 i am not saying it is the right phrase to describe the concept, but it is as close as i can get. "obtuse" is likely the better word. To put it a different way, there is an art to making respectable nonsense solutions, and anyone who is well versed in the genre of point and click adventure games can generally point out a good example from a bad one. This game generally falls into the good category more than the bad one. What i was getting at is that this is a game whos puzzles only work when you break the rules the game establishes, hence thinking out of the box, while also appreciating the writing. Compare this game to the laser one he played recently. In the laser game, the puzzle is all about using the unbending rules of the tools available. This game on the other hand is all about abstract thinking by using objects in ways other than what you would expect. "outside the box" meaning ignoring your own preconceived notions, not finding the solution. Puzzle games are not as unanimous as you make them out to be. Most can be divided into one of 2 categories: abstract, or rational. Tyler seems to enjoy rational puzzles more, but this game is all about abstract puzzles. An analogy: "puzzle": build a bookshelf Rational solution: follow the included instruction manual. Abstract solution: gather a hodgepodge of materials, ignore the instructions, create a unique bookshelf with all the creativity you can muster based off the result that is expected. Abstract gives you a goal, but does not give you any information on the tools you need. Rational gives you the tools and expects you to figure out the goal. There is creativity in both types, but rational comes from execution, and abstract comes from the method.
