I was wondering does your touch pad make a funny clicking noise on the left side? when you tap on the touch pad itself? I've have noticed 3 units now with this problem and I cant figure out if its affecting all Area 51m laptops.

It’s actually normal for the fans to spin up to max when doing a BIOS update, as that has happened to me whenever I’ve done BIOS updates on my Alienware 17R5, and I also want to say that it’s common for most computers. The Area 51m looks beastly though, and it’s kind of making me want to buy the system, no lie.

hi, I can confirm you these dumbass installed Windows on the SSHD rather than on the SSD. Had to go through a full format and reinstall... Except from that the PC is brillant and since the BIOS update it's 100 percent silent on desktop.

Is this the first time you've updated the bios of a laptop??? Almost every oem laptop will tune the fan at max speed while updating bios.

Can you confirm that post running the windows updates and updating the graphics drivers can you see the Nvidia Control Panel any where. I’ve been facing the issue since the day I got this and Alienware support confirmed that it’s a known issue that they are working with Microsoft on

Haven't had any issues seeing nvidia control panel. Have to use geforce experience to update GPU drivers though. Direct downloads from nvidia.com won't install- says system is incompatible. Geforce experience installs updates fine, though.

Landon Dodd apparently the issue occurs when you reinstall windows. In several systems at the time of shipping (mine included) Dell has installed Windows on the slower hybrid drive instead of the SSD. So if one does a fresh install to the SSD, that’s when several driver issues crop up and the Nvidia control panel disappears. I was with Alienware support for two days and despite trying everything they couldn’t get the Nvidia control panel to appear. Eventually I had to initiate a replacement.

Kushal Sethi they installed windows on the wrong drive for me too. I just used Macrium Reflect to ghost it over to the SSD raid and no issues. Nvidia Control Panel works fine. Ghosting process took about 20 minutes, renamed the raid to C, set it as boot drive, and no issues. Whole process under a half hour. The point of saying all that is a quick google search will reveal ways to do things that are much ore effective than what dell support recommends. Dell support will only use Dell tools, and thus lad to the issues you’re having. The OS shouldn’t have been installed on the wrong drive to begin with but moving it to a different drive and booting from that new drive is a quick and easy process using the right tools. I then backed up the moved install to an external HD, so if I ever have to “start over”, or upgrade my nvme drives, I have the original factory install I can restore if I want to.

@@ivantavarez535 all he's saying is the blinking visible on the video is the Tobii system. You can only see it on the camera. You can not see it in person with the naked eye. I've had my 51m for over a week and a half, so I've had a bit of experience with it. Lol. I'll reiterate it slowly. You. Can. Not. See. The. Tobii. Eye. Tracking. Blink. With. Your. Naked. Eye. Period. Take a camera and point it at an iPhone X or newer while its scanning for face ID. You can see the scanning light on camera but not in person. Exact same tech here.

You are lucky. I play on the couch nearby my Fiancée and the laptop has to be below 46DB while gaming otherwise she complains. It's super hard to find a good machine with low fan noise.
