You can build your own night vision quite easily the info is out there just gotta look for it and it's fairly cheap I bought two broken pvs7 units and fixed them they work great

Gonna be building my own. The raspberry pi cameras and screens are getting to good to ignore. I'm shooting for 1440p and 90fps. Looks like it'll be real close, but it's still far better than the 30fps of almost all the digital ones I've seen

An annoying issue with these i have found: outside in the dark, no full moon but light enough you can barely see with naked eyes, this unit sucks without the illuminator on. With the illuminator on lowest setting (off isn't really off, it means faint 940nm...weird), if you put your finger out in front of the illuminator such that a LITTLE light is reflected back at the camera lense, BOOM, the system changes gain or sensitivity and suddenly you can see out in the dark better than the naked eyes for a good distance (I'd estimate about 80 yds or more). Take the finger away and it all goes dark again except REAL close.

At all settings. You CAN see a red cigar-like red glow from any 850nm illuminator, even on an actual PVS-14. The LED emits a faint red visible glow that, on this unit, is faintly visible out to around 30 yards by naked eye. You can also see a very faint red/purple glow from a 940nm illuminator up close but only to maybe 10-15 ft.

Funny to see people reviewing technology that was invented in 1939. Thats 84 years ago people. Sony made a video camera back in 1998 which had a “night vision” (infrared) mode. It even was capable of seeing threw clothes. I ran around with digital NV when i was 14 years old. Im 36 now! Hell in 2010 Jakks Pacific released SPYNET Night Vision Infrared Goggles for children that do this same thing. You can get a pair for like 30 buck online. All of a sudden this tech keeps getting rewrapped and called new then priced for hundreds? I dont get it. Morons reviewing it obviously have no idea what they are even talking about... Sorry
