This masterpiece is in fact a milestone achieved by Indian cinema. A sensible way of depicting a sensitive topic in flashback of a true story. Manoj Bajpai was dipped and drowned in character so effortlessly that he didn't seem like he is acting. Who could do that better! Full marks to the director and producer for courage to come up with this piece of art. As Pakistani i salute and admire Indian cinema to come that ahead to bring this matter on screen with due sensitivity and brilliance needed for such content. Bravo 👏

If OTT release was there then it would have been success as people only watch fictional movies in theatre and since pandemic everyone's taste has been changed and they want such talented actors' movie either on theatre or OTT.

The Indian public is found to like action movies more.There are many films narrating emotional, psychological and sensitive topics which didn't get hit. Actors of such movies are also not too highly famous ones. The mentality of Indian people is pretty much conservative and unemotional. A bollywood film with rubbish senseless story but good amount of action gets hit but a good story with no action goes flop. The Indian youth is crazy for action.

This film is a testament to great hard work. It has been well-researched and thought upon, it does not glorify homosexuality nor does it portray them to be any different because they simply aren’t, it just wants people to accept things that are right, it’s devastating to watch actor Manoj Bajpai, who eats into the character, he is shy when someone calls him handsome, his face shows a deserted and broken man who is scared, in pain, and above everything lonely, there is not a single wrong note in his performance. Rajkumar Rao is brilliant as journalist who is not only looking for his own peace of mind but is equally sad at the sorry state of the world which can’t understand simple human emotions and feelings. Well when I look back at the film which will haunt me for days, the only flaw I could find is the climax that doesn’t match up to the emotional heft of the rest of the film. Thanks for this brave film that is not a cry for help, it’s an ode to those souls that are crucified by society for just being what they really are, i.e - HUMAN.

even though i knew how the story ended, i couldn't help but wish that things ended differently, that Prof. S.R. Siras got his happy ending, that he actually did move to america and ended up living well, and as opposed to the reality, he felt at peace and less alone in his final moments. but that was a chance he didn't get to take because of the society and institutions of this country. i couldn't stop crying after the film ended; my heart broke for this man and for myself and for all the people who still can't be who they are and live in peace, simply because the world has a problem with who they love, a feeling we cannot even control or change. and even though the world is a better place now for our community than it was a few years ago, we obviously still have a long way to go. i just can't figure out what the problem is, i mean, all we wanna do is live a happy and full life with the person we love, in peace, without being convicted or bothered by anyone; what is so immoral or unnatural or wrong about it? how hard is it to understand that we are not much different from anyone else? as we too just wanna be happy and be ourselves and be able to love openly. but so many constitutions and societies and people of this world still think that oppression and hate are a better way of life than love and harmony, and that's the tragedy of our world...

Great message for students and teachers. One should never enter another's private life to ruin their reputation. That's breach of privacy. If one is secretly gay, minding their own business and bringing you no harm, why would you harm them for no reason? I have had many gay friends here in Australia over the years. One has also helped me a lot like an elder brother. Being gay is not an excuse to harm an individual or to ruin their reputation. It's not a choice they make, it's just how they are. If you cannot accept them you can avoid them, but don't harm on purpose.

What a terrific movie!! Intelligent, thought provoking, and sensibly portrayed. This is a sensitive topic, and film makers have to be careful to contribute not pollute, when addressing it!! This film exceeded my expectations - It had such a different angle to it!! Here was a man who was from a conservative Brahmin family, who realized he was "gay", when the word wasn't even part of his vocabulary, yet. Manoj Bajpayee fit the character so well, that we all found ourselves believing him and relating to the human nature in him, instead of judging him. By making us feeeel his confusion, his embarrassment, his pain, he laterally wowed us, in the process!! A Political Science Major, born & raised in India, I'm always interested in the law & democratic justice. After spending most of my life outside India, films like this remind me what, an eminent Advocate of the Indian High Court, once said to me: "Don't underestimate the judicial system in India - It is very respectable!" This film made me appreciate the clever arguments in court by both advocates - (although a part of me wanted to slap her, & compliment him -😘!?) Felt like a healthy debate, with strong arguments from both sides. It educated me about Section 377 - An intriguing part of Indian law, that I was not aware of, until today. Interesting to know that it was overturned by a Supreme Court ruling in New Delhi in 2010, and then upheld again, making Homosexuality criminal once more in 2013. I was curious to know where India stood on this today, and come to find out, it is not clearly defined. Indian Politicians have prefer to leave it be! Now it's up to the Indian Film Industry!! I was 17 when I heard a news about a youth was in his 23 or 24 had a good career and living in some building/society in nagpur he was a stable person but he did suicide because of his sexuality he couldn't able to tell his parents or his parents didn't agree something and I found it very sad & after watching this movie I have a clear idea about it .
