I greatly appreciate your down to earth flying video! Great explanation and demonstration of modes and capabilities! So nice to see NORMAL flying, unlike most everyone else, who only shows off their 3D flying skills and I end up learning nothing from it! Thank you and I’m glad I found your channel! 👍

@@rcflightz2058 … Thank you! I built two Trex 450’s almost a decade ago and after crashing the first one 10 seconds into its maiden flight, I stepped away. I had a flight simulator but never used it. I just updated to the latest RC flight simulator and dusted off my remaining, functional 450. After several hours on the simulator and extensive KZbin videos, I think I’m ready to take flight again! Your videos are great! Thank you for subscribing as well!

Getting close to being done my build. Anxious to maiden. It's my second heli, and all I've flown is a OMP m2 Evo. Still very much in the learning phase.

I'm trying to get my OG trex 550 v1 3g back in the air after around 10 years. Finding parts is a hassle. I'm now working with a Chinese clone fbl head but it works. It's post retirement maiden will be Sunday. Can't wait to hear it rip through the air again
@rcflightz20583 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately parts availability is just one of those factors. The tech and builds are constantly progressing, which is nice, but after a few years you’re kind of better off getting the new model. Be super careful mixing parts…one of those links let’s go or comes loose could get ugly. Good luck with getting back in the air! Thanks for checking out the channel!
@RubenRC943 жыл бұрын
@@rcflightz2058 I will make sure it's all a good fit. Most parts are good but the links got brittle. And all the gears are very brittle too. I've replaced those too. I've decide to fly this one untill I crash or getting parts becomes too hard. Then make the switch to a more recent model. I picked up the hobby again because of the omphobby m2. Amazing heli, and you can fly it everywhere. But a 550 and bigger just gives me they feel a micro can't come close to.

The 550X is SICK!!!
@yzScott3 жыл бұрын
I love my 550X. If you're not a pro level pilot (I'm far from it), you'll never need more power than it makes. (Or move to 8S power if you're into hard 3D) Even on 6S, the governor has plenty of headroom for me. Good (60C+) batteries help. I am dialing in a new 800 now. If anything, it makes me like the 550X even more. That 550X really does fly "big". It's easy to see and is super stable. Even though it is now my second biggest, it is definitely going to continue to get a lot of flight time. Nothing with single battery convenience is going to fly much better than a 550X, especially the price point. And battery cost a huge factor with the big model, so that too. I did switch over the Futaba 760R FBL. That makes the 550X fly even bigger. Wind and turbulence hardly exist with the 760R. But probably not a great option for you unless you have Futaba transmitter to pair it with.

Great flying! I have a 550X and a 700 as well, and at my level, prefer flying the 550X. The 700 is just so intimidating, but an incredible rush to fly! When people ask me how long the battery lasts, and I tell them five minutes, they seem surprised at how short that is. But then I explain that five minutes is about all a person can handle flying a helicopter before you need a break! One thing I noticed was that your blades do not spin very freely when you are throttle down, i.e. they stop on their own quite quickly. Are they binding a bit or do you have some braking mechanism on? Mine keep spinning forever and I always have to stop them by hand.
@rcflightz20582 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I always wondered what it would look like to be on an RC helicopter. I really enjoy the 550x…budget vs capability vs ease of operation…It’s hard to beat. I put a little negative pitch in on deceleration to slow the blades…maybe that accounts for the difference…I go to pretty great lengths to keep thing torqued evenly and eliminate friction…I don’t notice any friction turn the blades by hand. Thanks for checking out the channel, hope you enjoy the videos!

Many thanks in advance for your guidance.
