NEW HOME OFFICE & DRESSING ROOM TOUR

After a couple of weeks in the new house it's finally time to start making plans in the office/dressing room. I want to create a space that has a multi functional purpose yet seamlessly flows and offers a masculine but calm environment. Love to know if any one has suggestions for the space.

Ive not watched your videos , you are just lovely!! My idea is to rethink using that interesting corner for shoes. Try the shoes in the wardrobe that will go where the Hoover was, there for you when you head out the door and come in. Then, that adorable little nook....put the fridge there and coffee pot, little refreshment area tucked away. I would hang plants there, wooden floor there for easy spill clean ups, maybe some manly liquors on a shelf, manly crystal tumblers...lol etc. Cool lighting.. you know a little cozy kitchen area tucked away there, appliances out of the main portion of the room.😄

Yeah you definitely need built in drawers. For gym clothes, pajamas, handkerchiefs, watches, socks, undershirts etc. love the idea of putting not where the radiator is to divide the hanging clothes spaces. I would do a built in behind your desk space for files/office supplies too and just extra storage in general.

Good starting point on the layout. Try to change it every so often and really get a good feeling of how you like to use the space and of the lighting! Loads of options to play around with. I'd def try to maximise the use of the huge space in the middle of the room so you don't get very filled up wall space across, with a large empty space in the middle. For example you could put the seating area more towards the middle (create a centre island), and put lower storage cabinetery underneath the slanted sealing on the side of the window. This cabinetry could "flow" into your shoe storage.

As you were organizing I was thinking, ah poor Ali, he doesn't have a Carrie...as soon as my thought was finished she just appeared like a little pixie. : ) Totally agree you need to fill the gap in your shoe storage with MORE white trainers. I have a different spin on your space...On all your travels and your tours of hotels and that yacht (particularly) I am reminded of those wardrobe spaces and the details that always catch your interest. So I was using this blank space and imagining you and your camera taking us through the tour. That mind set has me envisioning the wardrobe first...just as it has been in your travels. On both sides... (I think it is the angle of the ceiling that has me thinking this way. The majority of that space consuming angle will be utilized by concealing it with in the closet space). As you pass through the wardrobe hall on luxurious carpet (small amount spend the $$$) you pass closet doors rich dark colors/glossy lacquer/rich mahogany/or cherry woods/wooden or that great cabinet surface used in your bar(just watched Lydia's Vlog oh my gosh) with mirrored or glass doors, again on both sides then as you pass through you get the peek at the mens club/library/pub to come with that space full width of living space. Same seating plan you and Carrie come up with/button tucked chesterfield chairs facing your desk that is at the end and centered. Same upholstery on an ottoman bench on wheels, maybe? You can move it along the hall as you dress, film or have guest for extra seating. It stows gym bag/weekend bag etc. The ends of the wardrobe sides to be mirror walls that face your desk allowing the light to bounce back and forth. Or open shelving. Yes to wood, paneling, flooring, wood look ceramic floor, just lay a sound deadening layer underneath. Get out your electricians bag and install a ton of recessed lighting and dimmer switches. Use floor lamps/wall sconces/opera lighting along your wardrobe area. Lighting will totally make the environment. The end...for now, whew I am exhausted building this space! ; )

B. Walker or just get a proper furniture company to design you a walk in wardrobe. Like artichoke they do great bespoke designs. Or if you want to spend less there are other companies. The kitchen looks well made and so does the bar. It needs to be done to the same specification. That’s what this space needs not a diy design.

One thing to consider is if you have your dressing table where you said, your back would be to the windows which makes it difficult to see properly.

Really enjoyed this one Ali, and love your idea of design for your room. The only thing I’d suggest is swap the sides - so, as you walk in, have your wardrobe on the right (away from the sunlight coming through the window, which might bleach your clothes) and your office & chill area on the left, where the sunlight will add a nice feel to it 😊 Looking forward to see the end result when it’s all done! 👍🏼

This is a great suggestion however the wardrobes will be inclosed and the in built cupboards would block all the natural light, on the plus side the clothes will be protected from the sunlight once the wardrobes are in :)

Hey Ali, I think it’d be worth it to move the radiator in the centre of your wardrobe wall so that you can have the entire wall as fitted wardrobes : it’d be easy to transfer directly opposite to where your lounging area will be. dgaller06 actually here in Switzerland we don‘t really do carpet anymore, I think it‘s kind of nasty too. when you do laminate or wooden flooring these days they will put an extra layer under it for soundproof-ness.

i feel like you would get a really weird glare on your computer screen during certain times of day if you had the desk there cause of the skylights. what if you had the desk in between in the closets so it was like one nice continuous thing and put a couple drawer units for all the grooming stuff etc in that other corner with some lights on like a cool vintage barber shop lamp thing next to the box you showed so it adds some decor.
