I have been an EE for Alinco for the past 18 years and was on the design team for this radio, plus have been around radio for 14 years prior to that so I'm fairly confident in my knowledge. I have seen this happen before and I can tell you for sure that your radio has a problem. Hope this helps.

Glad to hear Alinco stands by their products and stands by their customers. I have 2 alincos by the way. I have the 2m version of the radio shown in your video with the TNC built in. I've let it run for months on a backup battery and it never shut off. So the good news is, your problem was a fluke and I don't think you'll have that issue with your new rig.

I have an older Alinco DR-570 and I plugged it into my Black and Decker power station and it went off similar to yours when I transmitted on it on full power and it shut down and came back on a few minutes later. The power station had a low battery and the Alinco drew too much current for it. I charged it back up and the Alinco worked fine. Now I always make sure I have a fully charged power station....

Alinco confirmed it was the radio not anything I was doing. Something went wrong with the firmware on the radio. They were not able to fix is and issued me a replacement radio.

It didn't stay on long enough to get hot. I called Alinco and they told me it was the unit and it had something to do with the firmware on the unit. Something became corrupted, they ended up just replacing the unit. The new one works like a charm.....

I just fixed mine. I had a bad fuse in the power line. When I keyed the mic the voltage dropped, and it powered off. New fuse, its working. The fuse fell apart when I replaced it. I think these were the fuses in the power line that came with it. w0it. BTW see my homebrew flame throwing pipe organ on my site.

@ebm1024 I am glad they replaced it for you. It looked like a nice radio if it would stay running. 73s

Hi, I have an Alinco DR-605 and the display light doesn't turn on. Do you have any idea what it could be?

Your radio is trying to draw more power than what is available from your power source. Drop to low power on the radio or get a better power supply.

looks like you using a battery charger to power it ??? chargers arent regulated supplys they can fry radios if not regulated by a battery.

maybe its like my LG phone, goes to car kit mode for some unknown reason. I just drop it on the floor from about 12" and it fixes it.
