Mike how come when I choose 2560x1440p resolution on the VD there is no 120/144hz options? I only get 60hz.

Never tested but, Enter device manager, disable and uninstall the current VDD, you should be able to just overwrite the files in c:\iddsampler. Install again with the new .inf file. (action, add legacy hardware)

I have two monitors and third virtual. How can I stream on Sunshine with two monitors OFF? Now when I start streaming every monitor are ON. Of course I have my Output monitor set on Sunshine on Virtual Display.

I'm having a problem where occasionally when I end the moonlight session, the host (laptop) doesn't revert back to its own monitor. It will stay blank and I have to reconnect with moonlight to switch it manually back. Help would be appreciated thanks 😊

I’m super newby in the world of PCs, can you explain to me why you’d want a virtual display, can it actually be seen anywhere, and why was making it HDR important? I mean none of that in a condescending way, I’m super interested and trying to understand the why’s and the how’s.

Let’s say you’re streaming to your phone which supports 2k (or a custom resolution or shape) or 120hz. But your real monitor only supports 1080p 60hz. You could create a virtual display at your phones exact size and resolution and refresh rates, and your video card would stream it like it was a real monitor. Sunshine is a popular game streaming app. You could also use it to create virtual displays that are viewable with a VR headset.

The beta has an xml file to set a specific gpu to use. Likely won’t show up in control panel though. You can confirm in dxdiag.

Followed all the steps and everything seems to be working fine... i even get audio on the receiving end... but i only get a black screen detected to be an HDR signal. Any ideas?

Be sure to set the display sink in the sunshine config.

@@MikeTheTech You mean the Output name? if that than yes, i has the right display info i got out of the sunshine tool. i see no "display sink" option on sunshine... My host pc has a 1440p hdr monitor @ 165hz... im running the moonlight client on my Xbox series X > LG G4 4k 120hz setup.

This beta version is the only one that works for me without giving me an Error 31 and yellow exclamation mark on the device. Everything works however it only have a handful resolution available and despite the changes on the XML file I can't get more resolutions to be available on Display Preferences for the new display. Any tips?

What version of windows? Also it lets you add your own custom resolutions and refresh rates.

Just had this installed - display 2 shows up on my Display settings and everything but once I head on over to advanced settings, I can't make any changes and it states that "Display 2 isn't active" . Trying to dxgi for Sunshine setup doesn't show another display either. Any advice? In addition, there are no Display resolution + orientation options and scale options when I click on the second display. For all purposes it's just not there even though it gives me the option to switch to it.

Activate it in display settings. You’ll need to choose to extend or mirror just like any other monitor.

@@MikeTheTech Yup, did exactly as you said on the video but nothing helped. However, I've found a solution by disabling the AMD TM graphics monitor in the device manager and somehow from there I could force the virtual display to work finally on moonlight (tablet + phone). So it's working now, just not exactly your way 😂

I appreciate the work you guys are doing, but the latest beta was a very bad experience: (1) It slowed down my system performance so much that I had to wait 1 or 2 seconds in some cases for the mouse pointer to catch up with a mouse movement I had made; (2) the XML file completely ignored when I changed the monitor count from 1 to 6. If there are other things you need to do aside from change the monitor count, then it's not clear what those changes should be; (3) device manager auto-installed the HDR support driver in Windows 11, which I really didn't need/want...

That’s odd. Can you try restarting in safe mode and uninstalling, then setting up Remote Desktop before attempting to reinstall. This will allow you to change display settings in case windows is setting the virtual one to main.

I’m having trouble setting the name of the gpu being used, I have a “NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti” Do I just write exactly that in the friendly name? Edit: I figured out the problem is actually just having over 1 virtual monitor on at once, idk how to fix the lag
