The Bible speaks of a 'weight of glory' - that doesn't necessarily mean heaviness - just light and excellence. And everything here has that quality - the venue and audience in Austin are appreciative and classy; Alison has a voice like light itself, and puts on a whole other game face when she digs into the fiddle; Jerry Douglas is the dobro GOAT and for decades has shown up with so many world-class performers on every inhabited continent; it is so great to hear a guitar break from Dan Tyminski - who seldom stands forth (unless he's covering himself voicing George Clooney), and is a warm, multiply gifted human being. The entire ensemble embodies 'all due respect' in the very best sense - for the audience, for one another and for the music. Glorious, Alison. Thanks filirani. And God.

PS The second program in this double-header is an all-star affair, too - Bela Fleck, Stuart Duncan and Vassar Clements, Jerry Douglas (he is everywhere), Sam Bush, Brian Sutton (I think - they all look so young) - don't know the gentleman on bass, but someone here will, I bet :-). Chamber music, backporch jam - this is high wire work with no safety net, and just wonderful. Bela paid for the whole fretboard, and makes sure he uses it all :-). And Earl Scruggs!

Alison singing Todd Rundgren's It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference is magical, but everything she sings is magical. Jerry Douglas is the master of the Dobro, no one else even comes close.

all these comments, and not one mention of the stellar Bela Fleck "Bluegrass Sessions" set thats the 2nd half. I believe that band is Earl Scruggs, Vassar Clements, John Hartford, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Mark Schatz, and Stuart Duncan, with Bryan Sutton sitting in for Tony Rice who couldn't be on the tour.

WOW, love to hear RWT played like that. Also the Union Station Patented Dozer-Grass (my fave) Juggernaught rolls over us at 15:54, with an astonishing fiddle kickoff,... yeah, Alison. Wild Bill Jones! ... As AK sez, it's got something for everyone.

Do you have the Austin City Limits Season 25 opening credits from 2000? It shows people in many different activities from around Austin at night, the Austin City Limits Twenty-Five Years of American Music logo appear, and Lickona's voice said: "Recorded live from Austin, Texas, Austin City Limits celebrates 25 years of American music". At the end of the opening credits, we see the Austin City Limits logo on a hand, the screen flashes white, and we see a shot of Willie Nelson from Season 25, Episode 4, the text "created by Bill Arhos" appear.
