I really love this pattern. I am really new to crocheting so I'm really confused. I want to make this bigger so since you used 30 I tried 90. That did not work. I see you say stitches count sets of 4 but 30 is not a count of 4. What am I missing? I can never understand the stitch count. If it multiples of 4 would a chain of 88 work?
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Beth, when you do 30 and crochet into the 4th stitch, then crochet to the end of your chain you have 28 stitches (the 3 you skip makes the 1st treble, then going into the 4th stitch makes 1 treble crochet. SO out of the very first 4 stitches in your chain it makes just 2 trebles) try 86 stitches that should leave you with 84 trebles ( the very 1st 4 stitches makes 2 trebles, the 3 you skip then crochet into the 4th stitch you have 2 UK trebles, the chain of 3 and the one you just made. when you get to your last 4 stitches in the foundation chain it should work out you skip 2 and make 1 treble into the last 2 stitches. This is to push the pattern along so you have 2 trebles at the beginning and have 2 at the end to keep the arches symmetrical. stitch counts are murder to get to grips with. what I got told was... for treble crochet if you want to keep 10 stitches for your pattern you have to have 12 stitches in your chain and go into the 4th stitch the 3 you miss is the 1st treble and when you go into the 4th stitch you make another. That gives you 2 trebles and you should have 8 stitches left to make 8 more = 10 trebles. best way to under stand it is to crochet 12 stitches and work into the 4th stitch and treble crochet to the end you should have 10 treble crochets.

@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel Alison thank you so much for your response. I tried again with the 30 stitches. I put double (USA) crochet in the 4th chain from hook. At the end of the first row, I had 28 double crochets. I chained 2, turned my work and thought I followed you correctly but when I get to the end of row 2 I have 2 stitches left at the end. I have 7 sets of double crochets (counting the chain at the beginning. Here is a picture. I just don't see how I'm messing up. If anyone can look at this picture and tell me where my mistake is it would be greatly appreciated. I am wanting to make this for my granddaughter (expected arrival on October 8th).

make it as wide as you need it, different blankets for prams, strollers, baby carriers and seats are different. if you google average baby blanket guide lots pop up for each type of blanket and the average size to do it.

i did 14 sets of 4 that's 56 stitches. its in the description box under the video the stitch count. do as many as you want for your size of blanket in sets of 4 stitches. The one in the video is quite small.

I love your tutorials but you never say how much yarn it takes to make the items. I try to buy my yarn all at the same time so I don't run short and have to order more.

I never know how big a blanket anyone is going to make so it is difficult for me to say how much yarn. All the blankets on my channel have never taken any more then 4 x 100g balls. I have a super king size bed so even that's too big for me to make full blankets and I don't sell the ones I make I give them to charity shops. If I make a lap blanket or afghan i use around 6 to 8 x 100g balls of yarn i never make any bigger than that amount.
