for anyone else working with LEDs like those, the colours are usually: Black - shared + voltage (12 or 24), Red - the ground for the red leds, Green - the ground for the green leds, Blue - the ground for the blue leds. meaning you can switch all of them off by using a relay or one of those door switches on just the black wire
@kiwigeeknz7 ай бұрын
That was so painful to watch. Just needed to run the power through the reed switch and not any of the RGB wires.

Looks like you bought the door in the Milwork department at Home Depot. Next time you are trying a project like this, ask the Milwork associate for assistance. They could have explained a Passive door handle (1 side only), the R/O measurement for installing the door, why you should not remove the black plug that keeps the door frame secure, etc. These guys & girls are my go to on all projects because they are usually retired with a huge base knowledge on several departments.

Fellow artist here! You’re the MOST determined artist I’ve ever seen. It’s truly inspiring to watch. I give up on long term projects all the time & it’s frustrating. My friends think it’s my fear of failure…OR is it my fear of success? I don’t exactly know. Anyway, love SO many mediums that I find it hard to focus on just one…so in turn, I do nothing at all. I’ll go long stretches w/out creating anything. It really bums me out. Thank you for showing me that it’s ok to hop around to different projects & mediums. The life & mind of an artist is a tricky path to follow, but I wouldn’t change it! Your determination, passion, vision, enthusiasm, positivity, puns, quirks & pure joy makes me wanna create! So again, thank you…for simply doing YOU! 💙from Brooklyn

Each color represents a different positive wire in the led lineup. The grounds of each of the relays can be linked together and then each one of the colored wires can be soldered to each relay and the ground linked to one side of the reed switch and the other end back through to the last relay. That way you only need 1 reed switch and 3 relays.

Instead of cutting the molding on the ground why didn't you just cut off some of the backs of the door frame to match the molding so that it it's flush around the molding that way you could have kept the molding intact especially if you're in an apartment and then the door would still be flush to the wall and the molding.

For the tack strips on your rug frame try using a pool noodle. You could probably even cut it into fourths (long ways) to not need as many to cover your jumbo frame. It only needs to be thick enough to cover the tacks plus a little cushion. That way no more accidental injuries just by walking by it. Hope this helps

So, heads up from someone who works in Electrical, recessed door switch. It's less than $20, a single piece, you do need to need to make the hole on hinge side but it's just an on off switch so you can wire your LEDs power leg after the switch and the converter power in before it to hide it outside of the doorway (possibly behind it) and don't need the door to look any more bulky than normal. Now also from my experience in home building, they make a 1way door handle. No modifications needed, it's used for small hall closets.
