Aliwan Fiesta 2012: Lingganay Festival of Alang-Alang, Leyte

The Street Dance performance of LIngganay Festival in Pintados Kasadyahan of Leyte and Sinulog of Cebu. They bagged the 3rd place in 2012 Streetdance competition of Aliwan.
They derive inspiration from the town of Alang-alang's wealth and pride -- a church bell cast in gold by the Franciscan missionary Father Baysa -- allegedly hidden in the depths of the lake Bakga, up to this very day. It was the object of constant raids by moro pirates, and on one occasion, was willfully cast off into the sea by natives who had been converted to Christianity. Every attempt to recover the bell would be foiled by some natural calamity. Even the Japanese and Americans who tried, suffered the same fate. Despite the series of tragedies that befell the town, believers in the Christian faith sought mercy from heavenly powers, particularly trusting the Senor Santo Nino for all their needs. So let the golden bell remain a mythical tale, cherished by Leytenos for its historical significance, but praise and thanksgiving are raised up to the Child Jesus for his great love. From Alang-Alang Leyte, proudly rejoicing "Viva Senor Sto Nino!" -- here is the Lingganay festival!

Lmao don't be so full of yourself, even festivals from cebu are better than dinagyang. Festivals from leyte successfully showcased next level performance with their outstanding synchronization, elegant and colorful props, and amazing musicality.

@@vesday868 I think nahhh.. Because if we really look eagerly from 2009-2013 and 2017-2018 their performance and choreos were different.. Actually sometimes I mistaken leyte and cebu's fetiv coz they look really the same because they only have colorful props..

what there are presenting is the story of their town... however i'm not sure if it was clear to some audience but for the judges it is clear... hehehe... the story line that they are using, is the story they used in pintados-kasadyaan festival 2011 wherein they won the grand prize...

Utilize nyo kasi props ninyo sa SAYAW, ang iba kasi tatakbo lang at bubukas ng COLORFUL REVERSIBLE PLACARDS so pagtinanggal mo ang PLACARDS wala ka ng SAYAW na makikita; hindi ito FIELD DEMONSTRATION but rather STREETDANCE ang paligsahan sa ALIWAN. Pagka alam ko kung d ako magkamali pag naka 3 consecutive win ang isang tribe sa ALIWAN STREETDANCE COMPETITION 2 YEARS lang naman na d siya pasasalihin sa next ALIWAN. In the case of your FESTIVAL nanalo sya noong 2006, 2007, 2008 so dapat noong 2011 nakasali na kayo ulit sa ALIWAN dahil tapos na yong BANNING PERIOD ninyo & being a HALL of FAMEr is no longer an excuse this time.

Better than dinagyang. Dinagyang dinaan lang sa Giant props. Chaotic dance movements ang dinagyang parang mga baliw na sinasapian. para ding nag seizure dance lang. ahahaha. this is better than dinagyang.

I respect your facts. But this kind of celebration is showing adoration and how important is God. Kung hilig mo MAPEH na subject noong grade school ka palang I believe that you are already knows Festival. Nakasanayan naman kase. And also it is a part of a culture. Hindi na po yan mabubura sa expression ng Tao. Ang Festival ay sayaw o tugtugin na masaya na kung saan dinadaan nila sa sayaw kung gaano kalakas ang pananampalataya sa Diyos. They show their faith by dancing. It is not because Festival has a patron saint like Santo. Nino. Baket may nagsamba sa Batang Hesus? May nag alay ng insenso sa Festival. Yung mga anito nan dyan ba? Wala naman. As far as I know Festival is not always an occasion but a strong faith to the Leyteñyos and Alang-Alang people. At isa pa sir, ang Yolanda. Porket binagyohan ng Yolanda we are already sinners? SINNERS? Sir, meryon ding dito mga tulad mo na pastor kagaya ng uncle ko. But his faith remains with the Lord. Kahit ikaw po sir all of us is a sinners. Lahat naman natin naexperience ang napakalakas na Bagyo. Kahit bayuhin pa man kami ng malakas na hangin at ulan ito po sir.
