Much of the criticism that I read here, and in the Western media in general, is based on a faulty logic. Why is COP29 in an oil dependent country? Well... What country is not dependent on oil? If they're not dependent on oil, then they're probably dependent on someone who is :) As for the 'autocrat' argument -- please tell me how is it relevant? The point here is to deal with a crisis - and democracies have been just as insufficient as autocracies, if not more. So, please, I know that COP29 in Azerbaijan hurts many people's feelings, but you got to at least try a little harder.

They had 30 years to shift their economy, but never attempted to do it.
