Well not in English speaking countries as in general non English songs don't really get any recognition in those, but the rest off the world yeah true, this one really is iconic! Alizée is really great and was from such a young age, but many people forget about the music, this instrumental is magical and for me it's a masterpiece even without the vocals.

Oh my god mine to, i was born in 98, i was 3 at the time this song came out. It was my first record i got as a little boy, and my first video clip i saw on music channel TMF. Everytime she came on there, i was dancing infront of the tv, dancing to the video clip. When I was at like 2, I heard it on radio for the first time and I enjoyed it. Everytime this song hitted on radio, I asked my parents to turn up volume to the max. And the funniest thing was that I thought this was in Russian. Later I learned Russian at 6, but still didn't understand anything. This is an absolute pop masterpiece ! It s one of the rare occasions where pop music becomes art ! The same goes for ''desenchantee" by Mylene Farmer and "Ella elle l'a" by France Gall.. And surely many other French songs I don t know about .. Thats the problem with pop music , just because it' s easy on the ear some people think it can never be art !
