India-Sri Lanka dispute: Uninhabited Sri Lankan island claimed by India

As India prepares to hold an election, an uninhabited island between India and Sri Lanka is fast becoming a campaign issue.
The rights to Katchatheevu and the waters around it were ceded to Sri Lanka in the 1970s.
But India’s BJP is blaming the opposition Congress and DMK parties for that decision.

Now they have depleted their resources, they are invading their neighbors waters. Radar and Sat maps clearly show the Indian bottom trawling fleet invading Sri Lankan waters well beyond this island now been made the focus. Address the problem India. Indian fishermen encroach into Sri Lankan waters with their massive trawlers for bottom trawling, destroying the fragile ecosystem in the sea. It wreaks havoc on the seabed, wiping out countless living creatures and destroying their habitats, including unborn eggs. This has resulted in a significant decrease in fish populations in those waters, so these Indian fishermen cut the Sri Lankan fishermen's fish nets and steal their hard-won catch right from their nets. Are you or your government going to pay for this massive destruction to the environment and the damage these scoundrels have caused to my fellow Sri Lankans in the north? These people suffered for more than three decades of civil war, unable to sustain their livelihoods, and still, they're suffering even after the war's end because of Tamil Nadu fishermen. Please make yourself well aware of this issue. That's the only way to move forward and protect our marine life 🪸🐟🐠🐡🦈🍤🦐🦞🦀
