Mexico grapples with surging influx of migrants and asylum seekers

Every day, thousands of undocumented migrants and refugees from Latin America, the Caribbean and beyond use Mexico as a transit country to reach the US in search of a better life.
But a new trend has taken authorities by surprise.
Tens of thousands of refugees and migrants now want to make Mexico their new home.
However, obtaining permits remains challenging due to government policies, highlighting a reluctance to fully embrace this migration trend that could benefit both locals and newcomers.

Im Mexican, let me put some context here, since 2010 Mexico's economy has grown steadily, thousands of mexican people in other countries have come back to initate businesses and although there is still mexican migration to other countries, the number of people has been decreasing over the years, now, the majority of people trying to cross the Northern border are from Central America, South America, Africa, and Asia, even from Eastern Europe, however, the most problematic people to deal with are Hondurans, Salvadorians, Venezuelans, Colombians and Haitians. To solve this crisis, caused by this government by the way, many companies and the government offered work to them, thousands have preferred to stay in Mexico and start a new life here, but others declined this offer, instead, they demanded health coverage, assistance, food, etc, the government had to built some shelters for them but the ones that I mentioned above complained because those shelters were "uncomfortable", not even the Africans dare to demand things from the Mexican government like those immigrants and I can tell you for sure, we are getting tired of these people and the open border policy of this government. It's doesn't apply to all, but it's kind of a pattern, many Colombians are part of the cartels, kidnappers, gunmen as well as Salvadorians, you can see Venezuelans and Hondurans begging for money, but if you offer a job, or work to them, they leave you immediately, other Venezuelas are part of the human trafficking gangs.

There is no "deficit of labor" in Mexico. 60% of the economically active people in Mexico are in the informal sector. In addition, most of the jobs (maquiladoras) are concentrated in the northern border cities and people can't simply move there with families in tow. If Mexico accepts those people, tens of millions more will follow with many of them wanting to cross into the U.S.

I had to move out of Southern California some 20 years ago. Any entry job that I would apply for, you had so 15 or 20 other guys there. It got to a point that if the position paid $7.00 an hour someone else would say "I'll do it for $5.50" so yes, excess of people hurt the minority. And please, stop with the stolen land bs.
