Nearly 8,000 people have died horrible painful deaths in Haiti since a cholera epidemic swept the country two years ago. Over half a million others have been infected and dozens are still dying every week. The scientific evidence shows that the United Nations almost certainly brought the disease into the country. But the UN still refuses to acknowledge responsibility.

just because a river or body of water has been around for a long time doesn't necessarily mean its automatically clean like the ganges in india, on top of the fact haiti has had far from stellar infrastructure and hygiene. not saying your wrong, your just not completely right, its a mix of factors.

Very informative and well done, but what is up with the translations? It appeared to be done by computer. Other than that, what happened in Haiti is tragic. With the evidence that UN workers brought the cholera to Haiti, they certainly have an obligation to give these people some relief.

lawsuits against charity tends to discourage charity. it creates an economic incentive to avoid charitable causes or helping those in need. it is in the best interests of humanity to disallow lawsuits when reasonable care to prevent injury has been made. if the troops had been shown to be guilty of gross negligence then it would be different. but simple mistakes can and will be made, and these cannot be punished during charitable help in a crisis.
