Gambling and sports betting have always been out there. The legalization of sports betting throughout the United States was huge because for years we had to bet through offshore books that would do whatever it took to not pay you if you won too much. Gen Z is getting a rude awakening because they're novices and don't know how to make sports betting profitable.

If our society did not force those who make good decisions to pay for those who make bad decisions, that would work. But, it does work that way, so forcing morality rules onto the public is the only way to counteract that. It shouldn't be that way; anyone should be able to do anything they want to themselves as long as it does not affect anyone else. This is an amazing segment. I live in Texas and I play sports props just about every night. I play thru about $10 per week just for fun, and to see if I can hit a $100 play using like $5 every now and then. I thought about how much money these companies are making and googled it because it has to be a fortune. Each sportsbook makes millions per day since the prop makers and companies have inside info on each player that you can bet on. They make the betting lines so perfect. Ex: LeBron James points prop will be 26.5. So if you bet the over, he has to have 27 points or more in the game. If you bet the under, he has to have less than 27. Often times, the player will score 26 or 28, just barely losing a majority of people’s bets. The amount of bets that are lost that close would shock you.
@TheEvdoggy5 ай бұрын
And you think Lebron’s performances aren’t impacted by the over / under line. I notice it with rebounding the most. Some games players couldn’t care less about grabbing rebounds and other games they fly around the court like a crackhead who thinks there’s a coke rock inside the ball.
@TossGawd5 ай бұрын
@@TheEvdoggy yes definitely. Before I started betting, I thought it was crazy to say sports were rigged. But if you bet for a week, you can tell that’s sports are actually rigged to a degree.
@TossGawd5 ай бұрын
@@TheEvdoggy they even promote the player that ends up having a bad game. Last week when the pacers were playing, I got a notification from Underdog (the sportsbook I use) saying “we have over 90% of people betting the over for Haliburton’s points. Will he score more than 19.5?” And he ends up scoring like 7 and left the game in the 3rd with an injury 🤦♂️😑
@TheEvdoggy5 ай бұрын
@@TossGawd Those announcements like “90% of bettors are on this option” are a red flag for me. I think money can be made with betting if you always think “what is the best result for the bookies”? With the NBA finals coming up you could assume that the Celtics might get it done in 5 or maybe even a sweep. But that would prevent the bookies the chance to make so much more money if the series went to 7 games.

However sceptical one is (that doctors need disease in order to have someone to cure, that lawyers need to chase ambulances to feed their case load, that technical obsolescence is the manufacturer's repeat business), what does this industry ... industry? ... what does it produce? Okay, there are winners and losers, and the house is the biggest winner. That's when the game is even being played fairly; yet so many are thrown or manipulated by the players themselves. Not even always because they want to, but because young players are told "It's the *smart* way to play." You're not even betting on who you think will win, but on who you think is less or more likely to throw the game.

Hi to all the Americans reading this. I’m a British professional gambler. I have the best gambling tip you’re ever going to get. No it’s not don’t gamble. It’s to only ever bet on futures. But not before the season has started. In fact not until the second half of the season. And then build up a portfolio of bets. Now comes the bit that you’re not going to take seriously. You should bet them in parlays! As long as the stakes are small and you’re betting on teams that are already doing very well you can build up positions strong enough to hedge at the end. I describe myself as lifelongloser and I’m not joking. However it was because I’m a loser that I discovered this. It all started when I was living above a betting shop in 1997 and locked myself out. Since then I’ve turned over millions.

Also if u are a long term winner at 'soft' bookies like Draft Kings, they will give u a personal limit ( 2 or 5 bucks max per bet ) and they will be worthless to use. Pro sports bettors betting in gamble shops ( like in Vegas ) or like me at sports exchange like Betfair or a couple Asian bookmakers out there who do not limit players. I do it via a sportsbroker ( which are not allowed in the US ). Agree with you that they should also interviewd somebody who is a pro and can tell people watching this how it really works etc...
