It is absolutely disgusting, nothing is being done to punish these bullies. The fact that the man admitted to bullying and is not regretful of any of his horrific actions appalls me. His actions and his lack of guilt are honestly psychotic. WHY ARE THEY PROTECTING THE BULLIES INSTEAD OF THE VICTIMS?

Absolutely disgusting that girls at 8 years of age would bully a classmate for befriending other kids with disabilities. What’s really disgusting are the parents who taught them to have such callous attitudes towards people with disabilities. She had empathy and saw them as humans, not just their disabilities. The man in his 30s states exactly what’s wrong with South Korean society. His parents and teachers never reprimanded him for beating and injuring students. His mentality was that there’s a clear divide between the bullies and victims and he was glad to be on the abusing side rather than a victim. What a sickening mentality, psychopathic. He was spared being accountable because his family had money and social status. Basically rich psychopaths grooming their children to be the same. Money only amplifies who you really are, it doesn’t make you better than others in any way. For him, money only made him a more despicable human.

Little kids can be monsters. My cousins had a murder case at their school. The culprit was a bully who set his sights on a kid known to be kind and unproblematic, with no motive. Then one day he lured him out onto an abandoned building where he acted out a pre-planned, painfully cruel attack on him that led to the victim's death. They were elementary kids afaik

@@tormint5294 Bro, this is so sad. I really can't imagine the pain that the parents are going through. What happened to the bully kid and his parents? Are there any information? It's embarassing to ask this, but I feel nad not knowing if something at least happened to do justice to the poor kid soul.

@@castorcreations1760 The victim's family apparently stated that they're somewhat satisfied with the ruling and hope to finally get some peace from all this with it. The culprit got sentenced to ten years in juvenile prison. And I think there was a mention that they're investigating the potential involvement of an accomplice. Aside from that my grandma told me the 2 families (of victim and culprit) are in contact and supporting each other. Other than that I don't have much info on the family, since I don't live in town and I didn't bother digging deeper when I was at my grandma's place and she told me about it. Additional info I found through articles is that there's still no motive to be found. And that the culprit had a put letters into neighbor's kid's letterboxes prior to all this. In the letters he had threatened to explode their houses or hurt the children living in said houses, if he didn't receive money (attempt at blackmail). Initially the victim didn't show up back at home, so the father reported him as missing. The culprit then turned himself in, confessing that he had killed and hid the missing kid. The articles make a point out of how quiet the culprit has been since. The articles say that, other than showing remorse and apologizing, the culprit's been very silent and shut close about the case. I honestly wonder if it was an elaborate plot or if he "accidentally" took "bullying" too far, not realizing that actions lead to consequences. I'm not even certain if he's of age to truly understand the gravity of the situation.

@@tormint5294 thanks for the information. It's absolutely terrifying to imagine a kid taking another kid life. The kid certainly has mental problems (if not before the act, certainly after what happened) and gonna need to be watched very closely by professionals. I hope that the 2 families can find peace. What a tragic situation. Im happy that never witnessed agressive bullies in my life, and even protected some people in my school times.

This kind of acts has been on going for thousands of years in Korea. I used to stay with Korean people during my studies in Japan, so I know them enough. To us, it is bullying but to Korean, it is just their culture, their pride and everyday lifestyle. The senior has the right to bully the junior. The rich can bully the poor. The one with authority can bully the ordinary people. Their showbiz is also terrible, with many movie directors requiring actresses to sleep with them or their friends on a regular basis if they wanted to be in their movies, hence many Korean actresses committed suicide.

Your people and their people will start meeting or confronting each other until your child stops bullying mine and some parents go further than that if you won’t reign in your child, society will do it for you. I do not condone v!0lence but once in a while an eye for eye. Also because most students here do not have access to private phones they can’t cyber bully each other .

He was severely bullied in school and if I was there I would have lost it and beat those bullies up black and blue. It makes me so angry how they treat people in East Asia. He now lives here in the states, speaks English and Spanish and is considered very intelligent as well as highly paid due to his education in South Korea. Most of the time parents of bullies are the problem too, they think their child is an angel and if a teacher dare repremand that bully, parents will sue the teacher or worse get her/him fired. So that parents are aiding their childs bullying behaviour and create a monster who one day will abuse them too and probably his wife and children or her husband and children. . I was bullied the 1st year in the U.S.A. Most of mine was after school. where I would get beat up and called names. My father taught me how too defend myself and both my Parents taught me good morale's. Never ever start a fight but never back down either , you may lose but after a while they get tired of someone that fights back. especially if you hurt them, I will admit that I thought these guys are gong too kill me, I a black or a swollen lip most of my 6th grade year. They though I was getting abused at home, my Parents told the school I was getting Bullied and beat up. just about everyday. . They asked who was doing it, I refused too say. Then 1 day 2 of the Bullies after they beat me up and I gave each 1 of them a black eye. Told me and everyone else that anyone messed with me messed with them. I then took Karate and self defense classes , I never ever bullied anyone, matter of fact several kids that I did notice getting bullied I asked them to sit at my lunch table. And the bulling would stop . I remember telling a bunch of jocks 1 time . I wonder how you would like if I bullied you everyday, and you guys know Me and who I know, and what I can do. They did not bother the young man again. I did not fight these guys or harass them either.

Just to answer your question, most of the times the bullies are in gang and they have higher authority over the victims. They have upper class bullies and school backing them up. The seniority system is also a leading factor (having to respect and act differently with your seniors). If you research about the extreme cases of bullying there, you will see the police and school did nothing in all the cases and let the bullies go as if nothing happened. Also, take into consideration that S.K society is different and people in general are taught to act respectfully and not emotionally even in extreme situations. Collectively if everyone in the class fights back against the group of bullies then might something happen. (Just my opinion and perspective about the whole issue).

Bullying happens anywhere and at any age. I'm a mature student and I was bullied and humiliated by a College professor during a class presentation. I didn't say anything or complain to anyone. I immediately withdrew from the class and lost half of my tuition for that class. If I crossed paths with her, I said nothing. She was even worse in her body language towards me. I ignored her and didn't acknowledge her. From my point of view, she was in the wrong and she had no power or authority over me. This is probably why she was so incensed. People are the worst at times. Don't get comfortable thinking that it gets better with age. It gets worse actually. I'm more comfortable setting boundaries with people now that I'm older and life gets better in that respect.

One of the big problems when tackling this issue is trying to stop the misuse of anti-bully laws. If 7 bullies say 1 kid was the actual bully then the kid might get punished it they don’t thoroughly investigate it (kinda like what’s happening with sexual assault allegations in the US). So each case needs to be taken with care and there might not be enough manpower to do all that unless there’s funding behind it

The bullying is not limited to children by other children. Bullying is as much done by parents to teachers. Teachers who show concern and try to intervene and judicate matters impartially and fairly and protect the bullied children, get bullied by the bully's parents, who claim they are unfairly targeting their bullying child. The parents' concerns are just for the reputation of their own child and not the truth and reality of the matter. And the school authorities are only interested in pleasing the parents. The only way this stops is if there will be a month long strike. Teachers have got to show the parents that they too have power...

I'm from Singapore and i'm sure bullying happens too but much less severe n less frequent. My secondary school discipline master did not tolerate bullying n if there were instances like this, bully may be expelled from school or face public caning in front of whole school hence school was a conducive learning environment. I used to think he was overly strict, now looking back, I'm thankful. I believe all if not most public schools in Singapore have discipline masters to keep order in the school. Horrific that S Korean educators just turn a blind eye. How infuriating... Might I add, having siblings help turn bullies away. When some of the boys from my class teased me, I threatened them with my older bro and they dared not tease me after. My brother was a champion martial artist and a senior in the same school. When some girl attempted to bully my younger sis, I confronted her n threatened the police and the coward bully quickly backed off.

Call me old-fashion, but this bullying issue in South Korea and gun issue in the States share one thing: uncontrolled medias, that lead to widespread violence. In Hollywood movies, bad guys are portrayed like daredevils with strong will and mental capability, while the police is just sitting duck.

If teachers have to get on their knees to apologise to a child who come from a rich family why would they intervene when bullying is taking place at school I think the only way to deal with this problem it is to Sue the parents school and Child is causing the bullying how can a society accept bullying as part of life this reason why so many children commit suicide

If you can carry on your family business, be good at something, following your family tradition, then it does not necessary to really perform good at school. Every single individual is specialized in something or in some way, if this guy was really good at bullying others, and made a success out of it. Then he may become a good manager or officer in charge of old-fashion prison. Then his job is to annoying other disadvantaged individuals.

well, the man who admitted he was a bully at school (and continued to be a bully in real life) was at least honest enough to admit it. but it still stings that he didn't get to pay for any of his actions. he should be scared as karma is piling very heavily. as we say in Filipino, makakahanap din yan ng katapat.

Just as a general observation I never get it when people say South Korean parents are so strict with their kids. I have this idea that they are slacking in the education part and let kids do whatever they want, however they want. They either smother them or don't even try to reprimand them. I think kids who never learn that their behavior is unacceptable will never grow up to be functioning adults. I do agree that hierarchy also plays a big role in this because a lot of South Korean teens/young adults look up to fame, money and material goods and in SK it is evident that being rich gets you further in life. It breaks my heart to see the mother who lost her son. How can It be a punishment to destroy someone's life and having to clean the classroom or write an insincere apology letter? It is incredibly unfair.

South Korea are much more conservative than some other Asian countries, and many are conservative Christian, very difficult to be different in any way, and children learn from parents. The social pressure to be perfect is also much higher, even how you look, parents can tell their children that they are ugly and need plastic surgery from childhood basically. It’s a horrible society in my opinion, glad I left many years ago and now live in Japan……

I thought perspective such as that of the man they choose to protect the identity is an exaggeration of K-dramas, it is really appalling that it is reality. Though sadly too, that most advanced societies are turning too materialistic that power and money gives them everything even the right to hit someone they deem be lower than them. Shame!

Bullying is a common problem that is prevalent in schools worldwide and is particularly severe in impoverished areas. I believe that implementing a more effective strategy is crucial. For example, rather than excessively sheltering and indulging our children with an abundance of love, we should expose them to controlled challenges and moderate hardship from a young age. This approach can aid in developing resilience, particularly in situations like bullying.

True I also had a group of girls mock me and block me from leaving the transport, because I didn't leave their desired window seat, but that was it. It was only verbal bullying. In Korea the student bully literally physically assualts the victim. I think this is because of impossibly high academic expections and societal pressure to succeed and be attractive at the same time, not to mention bullies not getting the proper consequences for their actions, due to their family's power/money. Something has to change for a better, functioning society.

Bullies bully because they have the power and money to back them. The principal, teacher or police dont dare go against them cause their parents back them up and never admit their kid is at fault. That would we a scar in their social standing and power there comes before anything else. I mean I didnt once hear anyone getting expelled but I know they have it at every school. Im sorry to say but bullying will never stop there and only Get Worse cause what these bullies need is conseling and a psychologist.
