No, you are wrong about stun threshold on CI, it's calculated on your "would been" life amount, even in POE1 it's like that, it uses your character's total life with no gear and passive bonus, not 1, 1 is just a number for shown not for calculation. And in POE 2 since most characters have no life nodes, their would been life is exactly the same at same level, 12 life per level + original life, without the influence of strength or anything from gear, which might as well be 1200. If it uses 1, and like you said "any cold damage can freeze me", then why there are so many archmage spark characters going CI+MOM+EB? Not only they have 1 life, they also have no energy shield (to add as additional stun threshold thru passives) yet they don't get stun or freeze often at all.
@burningpipe2627Ай бұрын

I played a tiny bit of PoE but not enough to actually gain knowledge. I'm in HCSSF in PoE 2 now after getting an invoker ice strike monk to maps in standard. I'm having way more fun in SSF. Maybe it's because I've played a lot of RPGs over the years and enjoyed D1/D2 quite a bit. But, I dunno.. once you "craft/roll" a few items it's not that difficult to understand what is happening. All we really need is a bit more information in the tooltips for the orbs where I can hold alt and some of the mechanics are explained further. Easy fix really. I don't particularly have a problem with the randomness/gambling aspect of crafting because this game is obviously very heavily influenced by the D2 approach and I don't believe they want to make getting to max level with all the best gear something everyone can just do with zero effort. The chase for that elusive piece of gear is part of what made D2 such a long lasting game.
@Neurotik51Ай бұрын
When I began PoE however long ago I remember the first divine orb I found I questioned whether it just rolled the mod within the tiers range or whether it changed the tier, so I tested it and got my answer. I was entirely self-motivated to learn all the intricacies of the game because it was just fun to do so, I'd never seen a game so immediately complicated. Many people call it overwhelming but it made me extremely happy to have such a fun puzzle to solve, even over a decade later I continued to learn new things each league. The beginners in this game who will continue to play it will also be self-motivated and ask these questions. I don't really think the transparency of the game will have any real outcome on that, the same people will quit regardless. Besides the questions people have to ask are much simpler in this game because the decisions are much simpler.

I think the issue is that at the end of the day GGG do want to make money, and expanding the player base with poe2 is a good way to do that. I disagree that adding transparency to how crafting works, among other systems, will do nothing to change player retention. Of course people who enjoy the puzzle like yourself will stick around, but for every one of you how many other people who aren't into that will quit without sticking around long enough to consider buying stash tabs or cosmetics? Even if they only stick around for one more league than they might have otherwise, or if they burn out and leave but on a less frustrated note and are more likely to jump back in during a future league and so are again more likely to consider spending money on the game, I 100% think it makes sense to improve those pain points.
@IncredibleGoliathАй бұрын
@@Katastra_ the only transparency they could add is by putting the mod info from poe2db directly into the game. But a lot of people just aren't going to be interested in applying that knowledge to weighing the odds, making decisions about when to spend currency, etc. That lack of deep interest in how items are generated is the real reason people want deterministic crafting, but those people should simply trade or look for high-tier items on the ground, not demand GGG turn PoE2 into PoE1 or LE. I think it's incredibly typical that the guy on reddit had chosen to play trade league but didn't want to trade, and also knew he didn't have enough life but complained about the game being too hard. There is no “crafting” in poe2 , its purely gamble and the “crafters” are the ones playing 12 hrs a day or play the game as their job to generate enough currencies to gamble. The actual semi gamble-crafting being locked behind omens is so dog shit.

i'm kind of that way when it comes to crafting in poe2, i just farm the currency to trade for the item i want, i don't understand how to make stuff, i get a good base i slam a couple exalts and hope it's good lol. i'm guessing different tiers of bases widen the range of mods an item can get but i have no idea how that works.

why is the chance to get a higher tier roll on the stick higher? ive been crafting and selling a lot of hats n boots but i thought mod and tier is just random. unless its the t2-5 things tgat gives u better rolls?

Damage mods are weighted towards lowest tier, defense mods are random

tbh the only time any of less full time players craft is when currency is everywhere. if all ur gettng is a few exalts a day your barely gonna try crafting if ur new.
@FoosballGGАй бұрын
Wait wait wait @ 0:55 he says when exalting an energy shield mod on body armour it's random whether it hits high or low tier. Then he says if he exalts a physical dmg mod on quarterstaff it's extremely unlikely to roll high tier. But he doesn't elaborate any further on how it works? I've been using tons of exalts in ssf trying to get a decent damage item and failing. Is it just based on which mod you roll? Is it based on item level or rarity or something? Why is tier probability different between an energy shield mod and a damage mod? Any resources or guides appreciated.
@th6410Ай бұрын
Item levels determine how high mod tiers can get. Generally, most mods have equal weight between their possible tiers (attributes, resistances, max life...). For example, an average ilvl body armour can only roll 6 out of 7 tiers of max life. Each tier has equally 1000 weight. In total, you have 6000/X chance to hit max life, with X being the total weight for every prefix mod tiers that can roll. And then, you have 1/6 chance for the mod to be either of the 6 tiers. For dmg mods (Added Phys, F/C/L...), higher tiers have lower weights. The difference is usually drastic, like 25 weight for the highest tier vs 1000 weight for the lowest tier. So let's say, you pick up a magic bow with a suffix and open prefix. An Aug has like 1/19 chance to roll the %Phys mod (3775 total %Phys weight, compared to ~57k total prefix weights), and when it does, you have 25/3775 ~ 0.66% chance for it to be tier 1. So all in all, it's 25/57k ~0.044% to hit T1 %Phys with an Aug. Just look at poedb for the exact weights.
@n0l0g1n6Ай бұрын
Very hard to explain. basically, every mod has a total weight, let's say you slam physical dmg % which should have a total weight of 1000 divided by its 8 tiers, so you'd assume every tier would have a weight of 125(just an example, I dont know the real weighting values), but in reality tiers are unevenly weighted, with the higher tiers having less weight. Comparing to poe 1 mods, the lowest physical dmg % tier has 1000 weight, while the highest physical dmg % tier has a whopping 25. And yes, item level matters, the highest physical dmg % can only roll on ilvl 82 bases. As for why "tiers" are different between defense(energy shield is a defense mod) and damage, that's just the way it is for some reason, it's all based on weight. Defense mods usually are evenly split across its weight, while damage mods are not. This is why certain damage mods are so expensive in trade, like +minion gems on helmet, or +levels on amulet, because they have very small weight to happen. PoE 2 database has no weighting values datamined yet, but you could look Lolcohol's crafting guide video, it's 3 years old and has a lot of PoE 1 jargon, but the same principles should apply to PoE 2

i've played proably 10 seasons of poe1 and now poe2. i have never been able to understand how to craft things in this game because it takes a million calculations to do it properly, or some 3rd party site to show you the possibilities. I've always used the trade site to buy gear, and use a tool to do price lookups on items that i find that i think might be worth something. All of my income is generated either by direct currency drops, or lucky sales from drops. never crafting

Is there an actual reason why GGG decided to make crafting as opaque as possible? Or is it just a lazy way to give the game "depth"?
@PhobostenАй бұрын
All scaling on poe2 is done on "base" value? so CI happens after your stun treshold has been decided?

correct, I believe they don't allow showing the weightings on purpose, you can look at poe1 db to get an idea/grasp
@Flmf1984Ай бұрын
Its WAYYYYY cheaper to get your rez/mapping set via trade tham trying to craft yourself. You can get a 4 or 5 out of 6(maybe not the best rolls but decent) for 1-3 EX per piece. Crafting a 6 stat piece yourself takes 3 EX and a regal and you still have to get lucky. Because the way economy is anyone not SSF should trade initially then transfer to crafting

Thresholds (e.g. stun) with CI is based off of pre-CI life values. It is NOT based off of the 1 you do have. Now it works like this in PoE 1, and it seems to be working the same with PoE 2.
@Gregski328 күн бұрын
Everyone is so impatient, people compare themselves to no living streamers and feel bad they are behind. If you are noob you can play campaign for few weeks, then gradually become stronger. Have bad gear then farm for better or farm currency to buy bit better gear piece and farm more items/currency. If you are noob dont expect to have a end game character within few days
@NickyBylooАй бұрын
The UI needs to have a noob option for explaining or guiding end game crafting and loot ratings. As a noob, this is what I would like to see. Is it possible? Probably not without a ton of extra work by GGG. So no easy way forward for noobs, expect to brute force experience and learning the hard way.

Let's keep it real though Alkaizer, most players in Poe 1 used trade, small crafting in P1 is better and easier then P2 but crafting endgame or close to it gear took to much currency, It's the start up cost for most. I do see myself crafting a lot less in P2 but maybe that will change because trade is so expensive for above average gear.

Nah mid to end crafting will be even more expensive because of the omen cost. This games 'crafting' system is absolutely dog shit.

They need to flip the tiering for the mods to be the way it is in POE1, where T1 was the best and T2 is the second best -- and so on. If nothing else at least new players will know where a mod is on the hierarchy. It is stupid they flipped it because, it is a lot harder to know what the best mod is now like flat damage can be T9 but other mods stop halfway at T4 or T5. There's no way to intuitively know that -- it is severely unfriendly to onboarding.
