Love the reaction, don’t apologise for speaking dude. You are clearly a fan, what you were saying wasn’t offensive. Look at matts change from joining blink to leaving blink. I think it affected him. I loved the Matt driven songs he released with blink. I’m a blink fan and trio fan. The fans should have treated him better. But boy oh boy he’s back to what he does best in this song! Excited for the album! New sub btw

I'm a fan of Alkaline Trio and Blink 182. I really loved Matt Skiba's time with Blink and was excited to see what Tom was going to bring back to the band, but man I've been disappointed in their new album. It's OK, just not what I was wanting from them I guess. This new Alkaline song is absolutely perfect though. This is what I was hoping Blink would do.

I agree when you say (5:17) that blink draws inspo from Alk3... The verse riff in their new song "More Than You Know" sounds eerily similar to the riff from "I Can't Believe" from Skiba's 2018 album with Trio (ITTC?)

I think Matt got cleaned tho (it’s just my opinion ), the same thing happened to friends who are sober . Also …Blink will never be in the same league as bands like AT , people usually get upset when I say it , but it’s the truth , there’s a reason why AT recently played a gig with Discharge and The original Misfits .
@thepunkrockreview Жыл бұрын
Oh shit! I didn't even consider sobriety as a reason, and I'm 10 years sober and ABSOLUTELY gained some weight and look different... I hope he's doing ok! I feel bad for bringing it up, lol. And yeah, I agree about AT being in a different league. But it depends on what you like, bc if you're just a normie, you'll probably like Blink way better. But imo AT is a cut above most
@_____oo1159 Жыл бұрын
@@thepunkrockreview Of course bro , I’m not discrediting blink at all , just because I don’t like their music , it doesn’t mean they’re bad , they’re obviously very talented , but AK it’s different (to me at least) , I honestly used to dislike AK back in the early 2000’s and now they’re up there with my faves : The Damned , Rudimentary Peni , misfits and all the greats , it took me some time , but now I love and appreciate this band for what it is and what it represents .

yeah but hasn't he been sober for a while now? like before blink?

@@craig2196 Honestly tho , only the people closest to him know that answer , but some friends who got sober for real ,looked like him , kinda chubby/bloated and that was after they quit and got clean for good .

@@thepunkrockreviewI’d say crimson more than good mourning. Good mourning has a signature vocal rasp that no other trio record has. Matt’s songs on good mourning are a bit more punk and raucous than this. This sounds like more like mercy me. It’s cool though

A3 is my fav band but I can´t undertsand why are they stuck in that sound and riffs over and over so she lied to the fbi and mercy me, they made awesome records original and different from other bands so unique now they sound boring, just my humble opinion.
@thepunkrockreview11 ай бұрын
To each their own, I love it! I like that they found a sound that works for them and are just doing what they're good at. This new song didn't sound boring to me at all, and I love the other songs with the same chords. But I can totally see why you feel that way
@slashtrio11 ай бұрын
@@thepunkrockreview yea I think some of it is that Matt is not a great guitar player, and I mean that respectfully. I think he has a very punk purist guitar approach (like the ramones or misfits), just a 3 or 4 power chords and a lot of down picking. He plays no lead guitar at all. I think Dan is actually technically a better guitar player than him. Skiba just has the lyrics, the prolific song writing / creatively, and used to have the looks (we all age). I personally like when some bands just kind of stick with what works, kind of like what NOFX has done. I’d love to hear another album that sounds like from here to infirmary, loud buzz saw guitars and less produced.
