This record got me through a very hard point in my life... Trio knows how to connect to people in many ways. Glad i discovered them when i was 15. Its been quite the ride

I agree with you guys. These songs are better than a lot that are on the album. I like Dan's songs better as well. I also wish Dan's solo stuff rocked a little more so we might get more from that end as well.

Broken Wing feels like a Tuesday song. I love this EP. Alkaline Trio have a history of their EPs and B-sides having really strong songs.

06:50 Broken Wing It ain't hard to get lost When you forget where you come from Turn that dial to the right Push that pedal down Don't say goodbye Just for a drive Along for the ride It would be real nice just to fly away And escape everything But little bird looks like you've got a broken wing Now anything so easy It might not make you weak But it sure won't make me believe It's hell you say And it gets worse you know How many more days am I gonna wake up When there's no place I wanna go? If that sunshine's really gonna kill us all Why is everyday so cold? Why is everything so fucking cold? And never melts away It would be real nice just to fly away And escape everything But little bird looks like you've got a broken wing Now anything so easy It might not make you weak But it sure won't make me believe That's the top of your lungs And the bottom of your heart Is that the top of your lungs? Is that the bottom of your heart? Is that as deep as your heart goes? I understand the things that keep you up And I know that you still feel And I know your heart is hemorrhaging And needs some time to heal And now the traffic lights there on your street Flash yellow all the time And that mirror in your bathroom It looks cracked in the wrong light But walk out through your threshold Fill your lungs and move on down the stairs And let the things you love come back to you In time we'll all get there It would be real nice just to fly away And escape everything But little bird looks like you've got a broken wing Now anything so easy It might not make you weak But it sure won't make me believe

Balanced on a shelf A somewhat inviting, very different kind of hell To live without ever looking at your self You see life is so much simpler when it's balanced on a shelf That's been hung perfectly placed out in the sun Now look how you're admired by everyone Who sees you now they know your name But is it real? All your bad habits have become your life's appeal And then it's where did you go wrong Where did you go wrong? You're screaming where did you go wrong Where did you go wrong? Well first of all And worst of all You looked inside yourself, didn't care much for what you saw For what you saw Can you imagine? Did you ever play with dolls? You can protect your cotton heart behind a skin of porcelain walls You keep staring to your future Through these marvel lights they show Everything your never ever gonna have That's a giant pill but swallow if you can You'll start again You'll change your name And be reborn And begin to mend all that has been torn And then it's where did you go wrong Where did you go wrong? You're screaming where did you go wrong Where did you go wrong? Well first of all And worst of all You looked inside yourself, didn't care much for what you saw For what you saw

@mikelamadore841910 жыл бұрын
Gylfi; You feel like Dan didn't shine on the album? That's because he rarely does. Plus it is really hard to shine when you are playing with a supreme talent like Matt. SuperCacky; you must have been smoking super crack before posting that comment. What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response was there anything that could even be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul!
@mikelamadore84199 жыл бұрын
SuperCacky Are you insinuating that Matt is gay? Dan is the whiny one with the lisp.

Poor little scene kids. Bashing the album, harkening for something that appeals directly to their sentiments. Alk3 is forever magnificent. These guys are the prototype for what we old school guys love. Critique all the shit emo bands you want. This is the real deal.
@davebrady23898 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely correct, Ian. This ep is an incredible collection of songs, as well as the rest of their entire discography for that matter. I've been an avid fanatic of AK3 ever since I heard Crawl for the very first time on a Vagrant Records compilation. I was immediately hooked. I just can't imagine why in the world anyone would not like them. Obviously this is just my opinion, but to me, they are one of the all-time greats. Even Skiba's side project, Matt Skiba and the Sekrets is fucking incredible. The motherfucker is just genius.

so, i put some thought into this song and i'm 100% convinced dan wrote "balanced on a shelf" about matt and thats why it got culled from the official album. new matt songs suck. there's no feeling. there's no depth. there's no metaphor. dan is the better artist. matt has given up.
