I think you may have missed a shard within the Forest of Fallen Giants. At the Cardinal Tower bonfire, go right to a ladder and climb down. Turn towards the small bridge, and go along the small walkway you're on until you see a door to your left. Go through and keep going until you see a large tree branch that you can walk up. Go up, then turn around. Go in the direction of the big monster and climb the nearby ladder. You should see three dead bodies, each with an item next to it. The one furthest to the left has an Estus Flask shard. This may not be in the original version of the game, as I am playing Dark Souls II - Scholar of the First Sin for PS4, which does have this shard. If not, you may have simply missed it. I'm not entirely sure.

Btw peeps in the comments, I would just recommend that you get all of the ones before Shrine of Amana. It looks like a pain in the butt to get to. If you did all of the ones before Amana, then you will get another from Emerald Herald. You can't get 13 USABLE Estus flasks. :)

Simply some alternative ways to get to shards 6&12. For # 6 you don't need to make the jump from the upper level you can drop down into the lower half of the room before if you don't trust your jumping skills. The jump does allow you to avoid the 2 hammer enemys in the lower area however. For # 12 you don't need to walk along the edge the whole time from the bonfire, you can simply proceed through the level normally along the path up until the hippo/ciclops looking enemy and then out into the water along the edge.

For #6, kill the covetuos demon, continue through earthen peak 'till u get to the bonfire on a little platform, straight out of the door to the bonfire is the windmill thing, use a torch to light it on fire and the poison on the floor by #6 dissapears :)

you should add that for the shard in the harvest valley, you can go to the earth peak and set fire to the windmill with a torch and all the posion will drain including the hallway where that shard is located.

For that last shard it would be easier to use a torch to see the cliff but by doing that you aggro monsters from farther away

The harvest valley one After crossing the bridge go to right side and there will be a cave enter it and voila you're at the platform he jumped to.

I just got one really good question though: when you start the game, and you talk to that fire keeper in Majula she just gives you 1 Estus flask so in reality you only need 11 more shards if you want to get to max which I believe is 12. So how come in this video you need to collect 12 right of the bat, wouldn't that mean I would end up with 13 flasks which is actually not possible?

There's an extra shard. I just used this guide to find the first 11 shards and I haven't even gone into Shrine of Amana yet. I have 12 flask uses and when I try to offer a shard to the upgrade lady in Majula (even though I don't have one in my inventory) it tells me that the estus flask is already at maximum strength.

The Harvest Valley one at 4:08 is now a Repair Powder? SotFS, 2021. The Shaded Woods one at 5:01 is now a fragrant branch of yore, too. :( So yeah. No longer current.

I opened the chest in forest of the giants. Got a small white soap stone and estus shard but when I gave it to the firekeeper it used to shard and said I have no shards left. I didn't get another estus either.

Oh and, I killed the boss on the ship, the Flexile Sentry, but I left the ship because I wanted to use the souls to level up, when I came back, the mist was back, and I didn't feel like dealing with him again, so I just decided to fight the Pursuer. (I didn't know that there were multiple paths to the Bastille)

I actually found a thirteenth shard, You can't use it if you are already at 12. I guess the added an extra just in case you missed one along the way.

WikiGameGuides I used a couple in Majula but it was *well after* i found the 13th. The only thing i know for certain is i'm not the only one that has found 13 of them. Problem is none of us know where we found it. I can tell you though that i search around like a crackhead looking for a rock so that's probably why i found it. Sorry i'm of no help on this. :(
