To me, Zombie Liu Kang was made just to go with that certain phase where any fighting game main hero went through a dark phase in their series such as Ryu from Street Fighter having Evil Ryu and Jin from Tekken having Devil Jin

Zombie Liu Kang's backstory is more along the lines of Raiden being sick of Earthrealm being put in danger so he resurrected Liu Kang's body to go on a rampage around Earthrealm to kill the potential "threats". Of course that was because Raiden accidentally consumed Onaga's dark magic during his respawn moment. Anyway this resulted in the zombie pretty much killing the Shaolin at Liu Kang's tomb and so-forth. He never really made it to the Netherrealm because zombies can't go to the Netherrealm.

To me personally, New Era Liu Kang is goated and Fire God from MK11 is close 2nd. I never really liked this character when I was younger, but growing up I started to love him. Seeing his story and watching him become the new Time Keeper AND Fire God just made me smile and feel content with him as a whole. Great ranking, could agree with it (except for 1st and 2nd place :D )

The Brazil skin for Liu Kang is not football, but 'Capoeira', which is a style of african-brazilian martial art combined with music and dance, and uses mainly legs and kicks which kind of makes sense with the MKX liu kang, and soccer one for jonny makes sense since he is a super star and here in brazil soccer players are one the most well paid and famouses stars. I personally don't like the culture of our contry, but for the ones that are proud of it, it makes a lot of sense and NetherRealm Studios knew what they were doing with that pack

You got my back on those decisions, especially the low and high ones. Can you believe they used 23 in Raiden's flashback?? Even Lao looked FAR better! It's like a Taven ripoff, tbh. 19 wasn't really one of my favorites even though it's supposed to symbolize age! Even Kung Lao looked better in every aspect in MKX. Dark Emperor I wish was higher. Personally, I liked the armored look in MK9. MK11 has the all-time BEST designs, especially for Liu in all forms! Exceptional Top 5! Chef's kiss! Maybe do Nightwolf or Kung Lao's kostumes next!

i always liked zombie liu kang but youre 100% right. thinking about it i liked it because of the armageddon intro, but he never actually uses the chains in kombat. I think if they made him a seperate character like cyber sub zero it would be way better, and ofc a few more changes, part of the sillyness of the zombie thing is he was JUST as fast and hoppy as when hes alive, if he was slower, stronger, and uses the zombie thing and chains more, it would be way cooler i think. as it stands that skin is just an interesting but poorly executed c9ncept

Honestly, I kinda agree with this ranked list. I also have the MK11 fire god Liu Kang costume as my number one choice. A few things though: 1. The mk4 3rd alternate costume was supposed to be an homage to Bruce Lee’s Fist of Fury movie and 2. I would probably add the MKSM costume to this list as that was great fusion between MK2 and MK3’s Liu Kang costume with some added details such as the dragon design on his pants

MK Deception messed up with Lou Kangs human skin. If you look at his ghost skin, his clothing was different (you can find him in Konquest mode in Edenia and Outworld, his costume was 100x better than what we got

Hmmm, I liked Zombie Liu Kang from Deception (OMFG, I just realized MK Deception turns 20 this year! Damn) I just remember thinking it was cool they brought him back from his bs death as a zombie, but I agree that they should of put more into it storyline wise like they did when Raiden was corrupted after he sacrificed himself. That Halloween skin, WTF! He looked like a zebra, that's horrible lol. I did like his revenant costume at #13. Watching this list, it just reminds me why I didn't notice most of his costumes cause I find most of them bland and boring to be honest (and he mostly just has his shirt off like Johnny Cage) but I agreed with the top two. Liu Kang's looks when he became a God were his most noticeable costumes and looks that stood out.
