If you look closely he's doing it downhill. Cameras are very deceptive at conveying changes in elevation. If you look at his feet when he's standing it's pretty obvious he's standing on a slope. His right foot is lower than his left and his feet are only 5 or so inches apart. Now I'm not saying he can't do it on flat ground, but he doesn't do it in this video.

Even though some of the other ones were landed cleaner, I appreciate #s 3, 4, and 6 more than the others because they kept their legs together in the tuck rather than cowboying (I think that’s the right term, correct me if I’m wrong) to flip faster, when you have to do that it just means you didn’t get as much air. If you break it down, only the "5th" double backflip counted. Yeah, sure, the other people flipped backwards twice, but they weren't truly landed. The first: Gymnastics floor. The second: Stumbled. The third: Gymnastics floor, didn't land on his feet fully, so he stumbled forward. The fourth: *Same as the third.* The fifth (First land): This was a true accomplishment. He was even able to turn it into a combo; he landed tall. The sixth: *same as the third.* I'm not trying to be a hater, I'm just throwing out my opinion. I can't even backflip once yet, so I have no room to judge. Congrats to those who made it into this video!

This is not true, back sommis are easier and safer than front ones. As a gymnast, if you overcook a back sommi, you land on your bum, overcook a front and the first thing that hits the floor is your face! Fronts are blind, backs you can spot your landing. This is why front sequences score more points than back ones in gymnastics.
