He's not a locked on starter at Lille and he has dealt with regular injuries that are conveniently timed to be not during international breaks.

The Turkish league is a lot like most second tier leagues in Europe where the top 4 teams in the league are above MLS level, sometimes by a good deal, but the rest of the league is MLS quality or below. So as with the La Liga Portugal or the Eredivisie or the Pro League or the Scottish Premiere League or the Allsvenskan or even to some extent the Brasiliero or the Primera División, if you are looking at play in that league as a marker of quality you really have to only look at play against the top sides. If you see a USMNT player succeeding in that league, it doesn't mean a darn thing unless the success was coming against the top teams in the league because the down table in the league is often weaker than MLS. So in short, it's really not as easy as saying one is better than the other. You have to look at the bigger picture. If someone is doing OK in one of those European second tier leagues, it's like doing OK in the MLS. But if someone is recognized as being potentially the best player in that league at their position, that is probably a sign of being a really good international quality player. What is true is that in say 5 or 6 years at the current trajectory, MLS because of parity and because of revenue growth across the league is probably going to be better than all but the big 5 leagues in terms of using success in the league as a measure of success.

My bad, I normalized the max audio gain of each clip but I think the source footage’s audio is just so different even when I try to max it or min if it’s still not the same as everything else. I’ll just mute the clip in the future.

You notice how few of these are against top level competition? Our entire roster collectively scored fewer topflight goals than one good striker ought to manage in a year. Scoring goals in the Swiss league is just about meaningless. Especially when the team has actually gotten better without Pefok. Scoring goals in the Turkish league is almost as meaningless, as only 4 teams in that league are usually any good. Even the Championship is increasingly no more a sign of quality than MLS goals, and certainly isn't proof of real international quality. That's the biggest thing holding us back. We're like 32nd in the world among nations in scoring.

Hello, Union Berlin has gotten a lot better with Pefok. But finishing is absolutely an issue that the USMNT needs to solve particularly in actual international competition.
