Romancing Mister Bridgerton is my absolute favorite, it has my most loved troupe of friends to lovers, unrequited love, beta hero, plus sized heroine, secret identity, lost protagonist, strong heroine and some good sex. 😻🤭

As soon as you ranked Anthony's book as number 7, I knew Eliose's book would be your number one. It's your age and generational mindset.

I'm curious to know more about the generational mindset. From what I've seen most young/new readers don't like Eloise's book. What makes Antony's book and Eloise's book opposites? (I love both, that's why I genuinely curious) :)
@hbrad19772 жыл бұрын
@@Djinnk042 The newer generation would probably see Anthony's attitude and actions as 'toxic masculinity'. Where as, Eloise would be seen as a more independent woman or as a role model of sorts. Anthony's book is more in line with the old 80's bodice-rippers that the older generation loves but would not go over well today.

@@handleit_289 Sure! Eloise's book felt very "un-Eloise" to me in that it was really sad. I think Eloise suffered a bit from great side character, not great main character IMO (and these are just my opinions, everyone has different tastes and favorites) Hyacinth has always been my least favorite Bridgerton. Didn't like her plot line or her hero.

@@heididischler oh boy... its been a while but i tried going through the series and i tried this book twice but i couldn't get passed how much of a self-centered prat Phillip is. I don't think I could pull up a lot of specifics but i didn't like how he completely threw off Eloise's concerns about his children then flues off the handle about 'not being happy' when she continues to try to communicate with him. The way it felt was he just expected her to look after the things he didn't want to and to shut up about it.

I’ve never thought about it like that! I guess I was so focused on Eloise that I didn’t look much into Philip as a character. It makes me want to reread it to see 🙈

I personally thought Netflix is doing a pretty good job. For Elouis as well. The best thing they did was to let us know she is lady whistledown. Because keeping it for too long will only get the story annoying and people will loose interest.

I think Netflix is doing a good job too! I enjoyed season 2 a lot more than I thought I would, but I just didn't like Anthony and Kate as characters. Eloise literally came to life on the Netflix show and it made me so happy!! But I'm still upset that they revealed Lady Whistledown so early just because it ruined it for me while I was reading the books :)

I disagree with some of the other commenters that seem to think your final rankings of the Bridgeton books are somehow a function of your (relatively) young age. I largely agreed with your list and, whilst not looking at retirement any time soon, I am certainly more Gen X than Gen Z…..so a fair bit older than you! I also put “To Sir Phillip, With Love” at the top of my personal rankings. I felt it dealt with a flawed hero, and overall a more nuanced premise than the other books. I won’t restate all the other reasons you said you liked this book the best; suffice to say I agree. Well done on a thoughtful, entertaining video.

I was totally in agreement with everything you said from #8 to #2 (although I have a slightly different ranking, I understood your reasoning), then you reached #1 and I was like "huh?". Personally I hated Phillip (for both his treatment of Marina and the way we are supposed to applaud him for being faithful to her when I would have honestly respected him much more if he would have just taken a mistress and left Marina the heck alone) and how neglectful and even abusive he was to his kids. Not to mention I got the impression Eloise was mostly settling for him; I just couldn't find the romance in the book. I guess to each their own, but it's funny we have almost the same tastes, except when it comes to this book.

If we talk about morals, what he was doing to her was wrong. He should have been absolutely clear about his fertility health and choice to birth control. That aside, a marriage is in part for procreation. A healthy couple will produce healthy children. So while her means were cunning, she was in her right to claim seed from him.
