Thanks as always for your report, Swagg! Nice to see a little life in Silver Age sales, sheesh Bronze & Copper, how low can they go?

The hoard continues!!!!!! I don’t know if I’m an idiot, but I’m just buying what I know (and also gold & silver) for the future. I’ve probably never spent more on comics with a consistent basis than in the last 6 months 🤷🏻♂️. Part of the reason is that so many people are liquidating with lcss, that there’s just so much more good stuff available. If it all goes to zero, I’ll give you the first walkthrough of my “Worthless Paper Museum”.

I'm the same. I finding things more affordable. My only fear is they may full further. I recently bought a mid grade ASM5. Not something I'd even consider in 2021.

Agreed! I am not scared. I've picked up books I previously thought I would never get the chance to. I've taken the money cash shooter gun out of retirement. And since I buy to collect, and not speculate, this is providing an opportunity. Also, markets hate uncertainty, so now that you know what is done, I am calling this the lowest point. now. this is it.

The 30 companies that make up the DJIA are somewhat fluid--with companies moving off or onto the list. They use a divisor to adjust for things such as stock splits or changes in what companies make up the index. Probably a lot of work for you, but if you could use a divisor that could help smooth the transition when you change which comics make up your index, it would allow for you to change which comics comprise your index much easier.

All I can say is Nvidis replaced Intel on the S&P. You can replace some books to better represent what is happening now vs. using the values from 2021 as the focus of our comic universe. Grateful for your work.

Joke's on you, I've been in Zero Town for years, waiting for y'all to come visit 😅 In all seriousness, I like the idea of updating the portfolio, now that we're post-boom. It would be ideal to find a 'timeless' composition that can stay mostly static, regardless of movie spec, options, etc., but I'm not really sure how feasible that would be. It gets tricky because, just like in stocks, certain segments may be up (or down) and not captured well by the whole index. For example, your bronze index might be dropping hard because of the pandemic spec books, whereas bronze horror books might be booming right now. Idk 🤷♂️ You already know all this and I'm just rambling, so I'll just end it by saying I appreciate your thoughts and the time you spend updating this dataset!

Bad news, the comic book index will continue to drop as the months go by. I have said this for over a year and I have been right every time. Good news, it is a buyer's market for keys (low, mid, high). I have been picking up keys for the past year and the price drops are getting larger as the months go by.

Comics tend to go decades between hot and cold cycles, don't be afraid to buy now, as long as you aren't using them as investments. (comics are consumption, a good form, but they generate no yield and produce nothing, best case you get all your money back.)

We need a government bailout for comic books. Perhaps a cash for clunkers type program to get the low grade books out of the market.
@SwagHeirАй бұрын
Yes, I think it's time to move one to new bench mark books. The market appears to be moving away from the nostalgic sense to what's new & appealing to the newest generation and the generations after. New things have been introduced into comics to expand the market like the trading pack exclusives of NYCC 2024 or redefining the market with new release of old heroes like the DC absolute runs. In my opinion MCU has been laying down new tracks for later theatrical projects 10 years down the road as well but it just hasn't been a complete overhaul of Characters like we've seen elsewhere. If DC moves more into a magical realm as rumored then there is plenty of older books content that will rise from current low prices to ATH such as Barbaric #1 or The Hedge Knight, which could continue to run if episodal series, cartoons, or movies come out for these untapped licenses as expected. This would only continue to shift the Comic Value market from a large niche of comic runs to a more select niche like D&D fans who have rose in popularity over the last few years and expanding into collectibles & more.

How much does marvel and dc make from just its comic arm of their overall business. Id like to know if its profitable for them to keep publishing comics or will be. Becuse no body is really buying most comics at my forbidden planet in the Uk. Keys yes of course. How many dont know. But a hell of a lot of recycling going on. Not sure how they claim money back. The point is if comics eventually go extinct, due to leaps and jumps in technology, most likly wont this make all curret comics in existence more or less valuable

Do not re-index your lists. Create a new set to report in addition to these old lists that contains top 100 fallouts so you dont mask total market behaviour. Since there is no comic etf that you can buy that auto-adjusts as books fallout of list... Ie. Plz dont try to make numbers look better for the hobby than they actually are... Since most of us aren't day-trading comic books... I really would like to see you report on more things! Ie. Gold age. PCH. PULPs. SS VS JSA's VS CBCS VERIFIEDS. These are all essentially "new markets / graded/web sales centric " IMO, and i really would like to see those data sets for comparison.
