To clarify one thing this is the USS Hornet number two Original USS Hornet was the sister ship to the USS Yorktown and the USS Enterprise they were all of the same class The USS Hornet was sunk sometime after the battle at Midway where is the USS Yorktown was the first aircraft carrier of the three sisters to be sunk during the battle

I was never aware that it was considered haunted until I recently saw something about it in a show. I've been fortunate enough to experience many naval ship tours but I can say for sure that the Hornet had a different feeling about it. Can't really put it exactly into words but closest thing I can think of is it felt dark and cold. That's not to say it felt unwelcoming or a place I wouldn't want to be, it just had a certain distinct feel. If anyone gets the chance to visit the ship, I highly encourage them to do so!
@hotrodblonde4 жыл бұрын
I worked and volunteered on board for several years. I had my ponytail tugged like someone was teasing me, heavy doors shut for no reason etc. Lately, I’ve been having weird dreams about the “ghost boys” on the ship like they want me to come back to visit. Hmm.

We were visiting in 2015, not knowing anything about stuff going on. We went into a engine room shop of some kind towards front of the boat. We were the only ones there. Heard a loud bang like someone hitting on a metal door in the shop. Went to the room and saw nothing. My brother happened snap a photo of us staring into the room. Can’t explain it.

Funny I have been on the ship wandering around at 1:00 am before going to sleep in the Island and other times after working I am the last one off the ship sometimes at 8:00 pm. @autiovaa52554 жыл бұрын
@Lew Wheelz Your grammar could use some work as well. Here's how you say what you just tried to say, but using proper English. *You're illiterate. The word, "There", is used when you are refering to a location. The word, "Their" is plural for the word, "They're". Please take some classes to improve your grammar. Having poor grammar lowers your intelligence.* The fact that you just tried to correct some random kid's grammar on a KZbin comment while insulting them, while using improper grammar, then being wrong on your correction is hilarious. "Their", means the person in question possesses something, Ex; "It is their ". "They're" means, "They are", Ex; "They're playing outside". In case Lew Wheelez deletes his comment or edits it, here is what they originally said, "You are illiterate, "there" for a location "their" plural for "they're" please take some classes to improve your grammar it actually lowers your intelligence." Please take an English class, it should help you to avoid incidents like this in the future.

I slept on board a couple times as a boy scout parent chaperone. One of the times, we did a ghost tour in what I recall was the ammo room or anchor room in the front or back of the ship. During the Hornet's service there was an explosion in this room and many sailors died. Departing after the ghost tour, I walked adjacent to a corridor with glass separating the two corridors. As I walked by, I looked into the other corridor and I saw a man dressed in a WW2 uniform standing and looking at me. I stopped and starred. The sailor was maybe 2-3 feet from me, but separated by glass. He didn't smile or react to me during the 10 - 15 seconds I stared at him. As others approached I looked to them and pointed to the sailor and looked back. He was gone. Coulda been someone dressed up and joking around or.

I remember when the U.S.S. HORNET was in Bremerton Washington. It was decommissioned at the time. It was emptied out but the steel kitchenware was still in it. The shipyard workers were going to work on it until they heard lots of what sounded like metal objects were being thrown. So they put cameras in the kitchen. Soon afterwards the noise started again & on the video there was pots, pans & all of the big silverware being thrown everywhere including knives! After that? The workers totally emptied the whole galley!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

there are places I've been where I inadvertently stepped into that the hair on my neck just stood on their end. I don't know the thrill people have at going to haunted places. Spirits can reflect through me malice or sadness without ever touching me... and while I've never visited the Hornet I don't know if I'll ever want to. Just visiting USS Arizona was chaotic enough. I was first choking on what was probably spit and then I was crying, usually when I get emotion its the other way around

So this must be the aircraft carrier that had some twenty feet of its flight deck bent downwards during a Typhoon. A typhoon that Admiral Halsey ordered the ship (and others) to sail straight into the eye of. A mistake that Admiral Halsey had made once before, just six months prior, to the loss of almost 800 sailors. I now know part of what Captain Ramius was talking about, when Jack Ryan said he wrote books for the CIA in Hunt for the Red October. One of them being about Admiral Halsey. "Oh, I know this book. Your conclusions were all wrong, Ryan. Halsey acted stupidly."
