I remember all the hype here in Canada during the Christmas season of 1989 about this 31 in 1 cartridge.I had borrowed it a few times from various friends and it was actually unheard of for that time to have that many games all on one cartridge,so the concept actually was a novelty for us kids.

These were really common in Atlantic Canada, I remember places like Midnight Video and corner stores having this up till the mid 90's. Seems like a lot of my friends had this one growing up.

Haha! Good Ole days! I am from India and we only got FAMICOM clones here! So I grew up playing all those Japanese games. And it was common to have multiple games on a cart. Like 64 in 1, 76 in 1, 240 in 1, 36 in 1 and not to forget the Legendary 9999999 in 1!

+nhs2008NC I'm from Dubai, and we have famiclones here (I think I've seen a few, but they're not too common.) Most of them are original games from Japan. I wonder how Akumajou Densetsu (Castlevania III internationally) will sound on a famiclone.

I am also Indian I grew up with the same clones and multi cards that time I don't know they are pirated things , but now I am feeling sad why we got clone systems instead of original and I never played SNES and genesis I am feeling so sad bro why it happened like this

I probably had this or a similar cart when I was a child since I've remembered all these games. In fact most of my NES cartridges were multi-carts since NES was never sold in my country the only way to play was those carts.

I remember downloading a rom of a similar cartridge a long time ago, only the one I had was a 72-in-1 and it had a really nice menu system that was divided into pages. Along with the typical early NES games it also had some really cool Famicom exclusive stuff. Even though it may seem kind of pointess to use an emulator for a multicart since you can easily get the games individually, I did discover some pretty neat stuff I would've overlooked otherwise.

Fun Fact. In East Europe there was no nintendo of famicon. We got "Pegasus" wich was pirated version of Famicon. It was issued with 999 in 1 cardridge wich cointained all classsic nes games + those presented here. Some with changed names for example "Galaga" was "Galaxian" and battle city was simply called "Tanks"

I remember Karateka for the Apple IIe back in the 80s. In the Normal stance you can also bow to your opponent (by pressing "b") but make sure to resume the fight stance or you'll be one-shotted.

Great job, guys! I'm really glad your work is getting featured on our site. :) You definitely make these cute but informative -- they come across as well-informed and are educational, but not too stiff as to be boring. At the same time, you don't run in the opposite direction and slather it with snark and wit, which can drown out the educational aspect of it. Very interesting stuff, too, I had no idea about this stuff... Monkey Island music at the beginning was a great touch.

In fact you were able to get tons of those pirate famicom carts in latin america and some eastern europe countries back in the day. The best ones were the ones with 4 or 5 games because of the quality of each one (generally first class nes games such as TMNT, Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden...)

My favorites were the tank game (can't believe that wasn't released as it's own game, it's SO GOOD) and the circus game. There were no games where you could ride on an animal on the nes, so that was a really new thing back then. I had no idea there was an ice climber without the silly seals, they didn't die they just waddled home 😂 Love love love this game sm
