A typical Union artillery battery required no less than 120 horse to pull the guns, limbers, caissons and forge. Yes, I said forge. It was needed to maintain all the wheels and carriage iron. The park services will paint the Parrot guns. Is polishing the Napoleons asking too much? Sounds like a good Eagle scout project to me.

Excellent video on artillery! Ive noticed there is not enough in depth videos on civil war cannons and it's so fascinating to me! If you have not yet i suggest looking up live firing videos of these types of cannons not blanks but actual live firing the sheer power and sound it makes is insane
