I think the Number One observation on the part of my friends and customers is how Amazed they are at the artwork on the box followed closely by the fact the box is wood, not cardboard. My personal favorites are the Punch Box for acoustic sound volume, the Shrowded Crown and the "Honey & Hand Grenade Boxes for their Cool Factor!

I've never been too concerned about the material of the box, cardboard, pressed paper, composite etc is fine. I know a number of builders reinforce the inside of the cardboard ones but I always figured the neck and through box support was taking all the stress of the string tension so I never worried about it and I've never had a problem ... But, of course, the all wood boxes are the best! 😉 My favorites? Cohiba, My Father Cigars, Camacho, Undercrown, Partagas, to name a few... it all comes down to the size and proportions. A box could be the most beautiful in the world but if it's too small, not deep enough, or even too big etc I pass on it...My holy grail box would be an Undercrown long enough to accommodate a Bigsby style whammy bar... I'm lookin'!
