You are so cute... Love the scarf!! My big sis has red hair, you remind me of her.. So happy to hear that you are virtually pain free.. I was prescribed Cymbalta, several years ago, for the pain I had in my arms, hands and shoulders, due to carpol tunnel/tendinitis/fibro. This was all done through workers comp. They have now decided, that they will no longer approve this med and just abruptly stopped the re-fills.. I have been going through hell... They have kind of approved a lower dose, to ween me off this med... I am so scared to start taking this again, because of the fact that they can just yank it when ever they feel. I know this med helped me with my pain, I was so good. The Dr figured out the right combo of meds to help me, of course i had good days and bad... and now the pain has come back 100x worse.... Uuggh decisions, decisions. ..

UPDATE: I've now been on Cymbalta for 5 and a half years and still credit it with saving my life. As of March 2019, I'm no long on 60mg daily but on 90mg due to increased depressive episodes caused by my graduate program and severe chronic illness / disability (i.e., Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and epilepsy). My daily medicine regimen now involves taking 90mg daily Cymbalta/duloxetine, 300mg daily zonisamide, .5-2mg daily clonazepam, 5000ius daily vitamin D, and 600mg daily calcium. I also have PRN 1mg alprazolam, 500mg Robaxin, and 15mg Meloxicam that I only take in emergencies. These are all being monitored by a team of AMAZING doctors, headed by my absolutely wonderful husband who helps me manage my medicine, symptoms, doctor's appointments, etc. My medical journey is honestly an ever-evolving shit show from both Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (which causes scoliosis, Reynaud's, muscle weakness, depression, tachycardia, syncope, etc.) and epilepsy (a new diagnosis that was mistaken for part of my tachycardia and migraines for the past 7+ years). If you would like to ask me about my medical journey, diagnoses, prescriptions, etc. please head on over to my Twitter, where I am currently most active concerning disability and academia topics. My handle is @amongthygreen. I am not active on this KZbin channel and have not been since 2015. Comments here will most likely not get read. Also, if you're a dude who slides into my DMs on instagram and starts being sleazy, I'll be a mean bitch to you, so you've been warned. That shouldn't have to be said, but the daily harassment I get from men because of this KZbin channel cannot be expressed. Peace. Missi

Thank you so much! This helped me to not freak out lol. I'm on day 2 with cymbalta, super nauseous, I can't sleep either. Taking it for chronic musculoskeletal pain, which caused a vicious circle of pain, depression (because of pain), then the anxiety reared its ugly head (added more pain). Thought I was losing my mind. To ANYONE who deals with chronic pain, my heart goes out to you. You're strong enough, and don't lose hope! I swear this girl is my spirit person lol! It has been very helpful for me too. I have OCD, anxiety and depression. I wasn't expecting much but all of my issues are gone. The nausea for me went away after a couple of weeks, but I'm still having sleeping issues and sexual dysfunction. I'm going yo give it a couple more weeks and then talk to my doctor about getting welbutrin to supplement. I can live with the side effects, I can't live with with OCD. I only see cymbalta withdrawal reviews too. I think it's just people that didn't realize there would be a withdrawal and it's not helpful for people who want a basic review on its effectiveness.

I am so thankful for Cymbalta, it has changed my life! I just started it last week and just the first day the pain from fibromyalgia that has ravaged my life for 16 years started going away. I'm only taking 20 mg a day. I feel happy and almost normal, I feel like I can go back to work soon! I take it when I first wake up because it does give me a little bit of anxiety. It gives me energy and the brain fog, ADD, and pain is much better. The first two days I did have dry mouth and nausea but it went away on the third day. I am also very happy in my mood. I hope this continues. I highly recommend it for fibromyalgia! but start off with a very low dose of 20 milligrams to see how you will tolerate it.

I see that this is an old post, but I have to warn everyone on here and hope and pray that it gets seen. I'd suggest getting off of this Cymbalta. I'm sorry to hijack your comment thread. I understand that you have a lot of health issues and I'm so sorry to hear that. I also do and also took Cymbalta at one time. However, I feel compelled to share this story. I currently have a friend who is on the verge of death because of this drug. He has been diagnosed with Drug Induced Dystonia and Drug Induced Myoclonus. His body is in 24/7 seizures and convulsions, he has Grand Mal at night and cannot breathe, he speaks worse than a Parkinsons patient, and he is deteriorating quickly. This was listed as a "rare" side effect of Cymbalta, but if this is possible at all then this drug should not be on the market. One of these Grand mal seizures could take his life if he doesn't kill himself first to end his suffering. He has already tried once. It is HORRENDOUS. --- I've never seen anything like this. His life has been completely paralyzed by this drug. Keep in mind that he also LIKED this drug. He thought that it was doing him some good. He took it for 2 years and now this has happened. I cannot stand to see this happen to anyone else so I had to share. --- I have been off all of my pain and anti depressant meds for many years now and I feel like I dodged a bullet. If you must be on a drug, I would say that as much as you like this one, you'd be safer to get off it and try something else. ---- I also highly suggest the book Medical Medium. It is outstanding, groundbreaking information and could help you and so many people. It has changed my life and gotten to the root cause of all my pain and depression and I feel great now, and med free.

amethystiumm Weight loss is a really common side-effect of Cymbalta, but it doesn't effect absolutely everyone. Anti-depressants can also cause weight-gain in some people. The only way to find out how it's going to affect you is to try your prescription for at least six weeks. Only after that will you know how your body tolerates it.

Thank you for your review. It's nice to hear something about a drug that is making a positive difference. I was curious about a few things: Did cymbalta reduce your appetite in general, did it curb any cravings for foods like sweets, sugar, etc? Also, did cymbalta cause any constipation? How about effects on libido? The other two drugs in this SNRI classification are effexor and pristiq; my experience is that they cause terrible constipation no matter how good your diet is. For the first few months I had no interest in sex, or the ability to perform at all. However, after about 2 months libido returned. I wish I could have stayed on effexor, it did everything well, except terrible constipation.

Many yrs ago I was diagnosed with GAD accompanied with severe panic. A heart doc sent me to a psychiatrist and, his meds worked. I'll skip my long, interesting story by saying, apx 3 yrs ago my 120mg dose/day of Cymbalta was reduced to 60mg/day because I was occasionally acting out my dreams. Fortunately, while sleeping I have little strength and, my wife still has hair. Now, I am on day two of weaning off 60mg Cymbalta, with high hopes that the swelling in my feet will at least lessen. I have Parkinson's Disease, CKD3, osteoarthritis (two 'total shoulder reverse replacements' in the last 11 and one half months). There are reasons for my pain and, Cymbalta has helped a small bit.

I'm one of the lucky ones who landed on the right med the first time. My psychiatrist had other patients with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome before me and knew that cymbalta was most likely the best medication due to its similar treatment use in fibromyalgia. have your bad side effects ever gone away over the time? also if the bad side effects start fading away do you notice the good mood effects of the anti depressant go away as well?
@missis.81465 жыл бұрын
The side effects like stomach ache and appetite change generally left for me after a couple of months. When I went up a dose, my appetite changed again, but it was minor in comparison. However, the good mood effects have stayed present, and what I've noticed most over the years of taking the medication is that it has produced stability in my mood. I still get depressed, and I will always have depression, but the depressive episodes are further apart from one another, last for shorter durations, and aren't as severe as they were before. And to me, that's success. That's more than I could have asked for before. Plus on top of everything else, even if I am in a depressive episode, it's still doing a ton to control my pain and tachycardia that isn't connected to depression at all. So that benefit is stable all the way through.

Cymbalta was horrible for me, but I am really glad that it worked for you! With all meds, you have to always weigh the good and bad.
@missis.81465 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's one of the sad things with any SSRI or SNRI. It often takes trial and error between the patient and doctor to find what medication is going to work best, as each med is treating different physical problems within the brain. And for many psychiatrists, it's a complete guess for a depressed patient unless they have other symptoms to help them know what specific type of medication is going to be helpful. I hope that you have found something that works better now! Sometimes it just takes a while, which really sucks because of the withdrawl effects. I wish you the best of luck.

Cymbalta is one of the hardest things I have ever quit. Quitting adderall wasn't as hard. The withdrawals are no joke. I'm not suicidal at all like some but the withdrawals from this stuff makes you feel like you're dying. You will get jitters, brain zaps, burning sensations, bad dry mouth, and facial paresthesia. I would not recommend this drug to anyone. Try something safe like Prozac or Lexapro. Even switching from this drug to Prozac gives you severe withdrawals. LIKE SERIOUSLY... DON'T TAKE CYMBALTA.

It helps with general anxiety since untreated depression is highly comorbid with anxiety and often causes anxiety. I can't answer for social anxiety because I don't have that and actually have an extreme /lack/ of social anxiety. I could happily talk to a brick wall for an hour or a hall of a thousand people and be just as good. It also helped to improve my energy a lot since it allowed me to get better nights of sleep.
