This was their first record. Brought out on 12inch only, before cousin joined on bass.only 600 copies were made, which the band paid for themselves.i know this because i was living with tim bricheno at the time in a squatt in dulwich london.we had nothing in those days totally skint.

I didn't know that only 600 copies were made! My Dad did pretty well to pick me up a copy for 50p at a car boot sale many years ago, then!

There was a 7" copy on Ebay recently. Wonder if that was a bootleg?

The original track can be found on the CDs "Return to Eden" and "Sixty minutes with All About Eve", currently available at a snip from Amazon. The notes from "Keepsakes" say: The recording session was fraught... Zwingmann left... D for Desire would be reviewed with the words "D for Drivel". But their sound was changing fast... "Suddenly, I had to think beyond my bad sub-Siouxsie impersonation." Check out some of the magical songs that came next :o)

Reminds me a lot of THE STAIRCASE by Siouxsie but in a nice way!! Certainly not typical of AAE's later, rockier sound which came a couple of years later with Flowers In Our Hair! Yet this track still sounds epic!!

I have this track on a 12" vinyl. Once,I went to a record store in Los Angeles and they had another one for $100. I asked the sales clerk why it costed so much."It was rare", she said. Like Mr. punjarb49 says: only 600 copies were made.I did know it until now!

end of the day is a great track, as was love leads nowhere. I prefer this era of their music over the nicer stuff that followed...

Me too. This is darker, and more sexual. I don't have the record cover in front of me, but didn't Manuela from X-Mal Deutschland play drums on this? Ah! Just read further down that she did indeed.
