as a red mage who tried the heavensward synced one and finished at 0.3% while always in auto-attack range, spamming corps-a-corps and with the pre-pull hardcasts, it feels quite difficult to defeat, especially with jobs that can get "unlucky" like dancer or red mage who have randomness in their rotations(verfire/verstone, majority of dancer)

In my experience, the synced dummies are very tough yeah 😅

This is a great video. Was able to kill the synced EW dummy with about 10 seconds left, but I have no clue how that relates to anything else since I’m not sure if the best players are beating it with 30 seconds left, etc. The linked calculator says I’m closing in on 6000 DPS but again, in a vacuum, I don’t know what that really means, but as a console player I’m thrilled to get any info I can get out of the game! Guess I’ll learn more context for this when I start to do more challenging content!

What matters is whether you are improving yourself! Many of the dummies are encounter specific, so if you can beat one associated with a specific encounter, it should give you an idea of whether you are capable of doing enough DPS to beat it! But I am glad to hear that it helped boost your own confidence - which is ultimately what is most important here! ^^

@@CaetsuChaijiCh very true- even out of context for damage, I know I can keep aiming to get to 15 seconds remaining; even if it‘a bit feasible then at least I will have mastered the rotation as well as I ever will! 💪

When you talk about jobs that have funkiness with their rotation on the dummy, I'd say also both monk and reaper suffer here since both jobs have a larger burst in the two minute windows following the opener than they do in the opener. Monk has no way of using phantom rush in its opener, and the double enshroud part of a reaper's burst also is only possible at the two minute mark (and every even minute after on both jobs) meaning they only get the 2 minute mark on the dummy to really maximize their damage compared to jobs like summoner that can get their full bahamut burst twice in the encounter.

A very good point! Monk has to sacrifice damage at a different point to get phantom rush lined up. And outside of certain fight exceptions it isn't worth it. And yeah a bunch of jobs really get a lot of value out of getting some time to stockpile resources, like reapers double enshroud. Meanwhile the only difference between the opener and the two minute burst for summoner is that they might bring the festers from the one minute burst over for a tiny damage benefit! 😅

Why do I first discover this feature now, after having played for more than two years?! 😭

It's extremely well hidden in the game honestly! 😅 I'm shocked the npcs that send you there don't have some sort of icon over them or anything!

Is there a dummy for Dawntrail?

Yes! The quest trial by spire in solution 9 unlocks it. And after that there will be an eccentric researcher at the outskirts that will take you there 😊
