I reached the same point with my natural hair. I had done everything I wanted to do and for 3 weeks contemplated cutting. On impulse one evening I took my husband's Clippers and shaved it off 17 inches. The next week discovered microlocs 😶. Let my hair grow 6 months and installed microlocs. That was 5 years ago. Love this hair. Never gonna do anything else.

Your reasons and sound exactly like mine. I never considered relaxing but I was soooo sick of the hair wash routine. I got to the point I just started wearing mini twist all the time. I'd wash and repeat. Then I discovered micro locs after I started my son's locs. He has small/medium ones and I never knew about micros until researching how to do his. I started my own with two strand twist and I love it! It's been almost 5 months and I will never go back.

I, somehow, fell down the rabbit hole of sisterlocs and microlocs (I have no intention of loc-ing my hair) and I'm enjoying it. I've always loved the look of locs on people (men and women) but gravitated more to the smaller locs on women just because they ARE more versatile. You can even get braided extensions while having micro or sister locs. I'm only 3 minutes in and I can say that in looking at the pros and cons of both, I prefer microlocs to sisterlocs. I like that you can have different parting (diamond over square), the maintenance isn't on as stringent of a schedule (or expensive) as sisterlocs can be.

Hi.I got mine installed with a sisterlocks trainee here in London for £400,I had 6inches of hair and it took 34hrs over three days and i have 535 locks.(some would say i have micro locks not sisterlocks!!!), A retie costs me £70 every 6 weeks. I would say you have the flaking when you itch because you are not spritzing your hair with water and/or not drinking enough water too. Watching your video i can’t decide who is prettier, you, yourself or your personality.

Just an observation: dreadlocks were not called dreadlocks because they were dreadful. Historical meanings of words are important. It grew out of a religion that had dread/respect for God. Dread is use differently now, but please don't toss out the significance of a word or its history because we use the word differently now.

I think I met my twin. I got so in love with the fro and assumed when I go natural, my hair would be all full, booming, long and gorgeous and well it didn’t happen. I didn’t try a lot of products tho. I had gotten tired of hair before my natural and even cut it in uni days 2013. Went natural 2015. I had to do back to back braids because I was tired of my hair and couldn’t go through the whole maintenance. I had always loved locs (especially because if dakorea) and never really got to the point of finding a good loctician. I just got my locs installed two days back and I must say I am happy and relieved and can’t wait for the progress also with the cons that come with it.

I have been talking to the stylist who originally did my hair (I do it now or my daughter) and have all but decided to do this, however I want to add human hair as I would never survive the short stage. The only thing is I live on an island and Summer is approaching …. I wouldn’t last without washing my hair (I do it now weekly) especially as I sweat in my head a LOT. Is it possible to still do this but braid my hair and not manipulate it in order to wash it? I intend on being at the beach or on the water shortly after looking to have my hair done and throughout the Summer. BTW your accent is cute ☺️.
