I have two custom titanium race frames and love them! One is standard 20" and the other anodized gold OS20. The ride is amazing and feels much better to me than aluminum. I'm an old guy, so comfort plays a part for me.

Titanium will have that flex factor, much easier on the knees and back. But also as you know with 2 of them much more pricey than a good steel frame. And a good Butted Cro-mo Steel Frame, especially the air hardened triple butted types, in the tapered shapes make a great riding frame for a fraction of the price. But of course a fraction of the BLING

I remember back in the early 2000’s IBIS made a full suspension mtn bike frame that was titanium and had like 3 inches of rear travel yet it didn’t have a mechanical pivot point. They utilize the flex in the metal to achieve that movement

Great and informative video. I had a terrier in the mid 90’s. Unfortunately it’s a very custom fitted frame and right when I got it , my growth spurt started. The frame felt great but I quickly outgrew it. I rode it for fun 2or 3 years later and the amount of flex I felt , and then saw was crazy! I’ve always had a soft spot for titanium though. Would love a beefy titanium 6bar Supercross 20” xxl frame , but I’d also love a chromoly/carbon 6bar frame. Unfortunately I’m on a beer budget so ain’t going to order the bottles of crystall that aren’t made.

Wasn’t trying to sell you on Titanium, one of the things we say is that you need to pick the proper material for you and your riding style. We know most people prefer Aluminum, but for some Cro-mo is best, other HAVE to have Carbon, and there are others that may like Titanium.. it’s all about you and what is best for you!

Had a customer years ago as we're talking about some kind of bike parts says "They should make those outta titanium.. That stuff is unbendable and unbreakable..." My response was "So, how do they make springs and seat rails out of titanium? " Does military use of titanium still keep material costs high?

I have the new SX 250 with titanium spindle in the reproduction 1989 fusion cranks .also a question with the brake post do they thread out or glued in as I broke one off . So running odyssey Pitbulls it looks cool but alot of flex in the bridge so I've used fender washers for now. Just that I want to put the speedlines back on at some point. .

The Cro-mo SX250 posts are a welded on unit. It is a 1 pc thing. They are not thread in replaceable like on the RS7 or the ENVY BLK 2 frames

Had an early titanium Eastern Grim Reaper with all the so called weight saving cutouts all over the frame, the bottom bracket exploded on me, ripped the cranks and bearings right out of the bike

Unfortunately we saw a lot of that as well.. Titan the Titanium bike maker even made the Pro sized bikes out of cromoly, nut a lot of people thought they were titanium because of the Titan name….

Carbon fiber is throw away after some hard use or some nicks and scratches.... Titanium isn't. Carbon fiber implodes. Titanium doesn't. Food for thought. 🤣

Carbon fiber is far from throw away after a few nicks or scratches. Technology has advanced and modern carbon frames are very good. Excellent I would say. And we know of many of our carbon fiber frames that are going on their 3rd or 4th owner and are almost 10 years old. And if something catastrophic does happen, no, you can’t repair it at home typically, but great companies like Califee are repairing carbon frames every day for Road, Mountain, Gravel and BMX

@@SupercrossBMX. Then the chatter on the used carbon fiber frames is for naught? Just parroting the market. Im too old to give a crap except, aviation has stringent criteria. Structural is structural. Also, I love my RS7. It doubles as a great road bike seeing as how the nearest tracks and jumps are over an hour and a half away and that IS the only riding I can get in. Good stuff regardless.
