It's also because they can relate and empathise with him, and to an extent see beyond the facade of both the detective prince and the psychotic vengeful bastard child. Both Haru and Akechi mentioned that while they can't forgive him, they do understand that he's to an extent a victim of circumstances. Plus, I imagine having to work together toward a common goal helps, especially since, again, Akechi isn't nearly as much of an ass as he tries to make himself out to be.
