That phaser together with the whammy bar vibrato is so Ernie Isley. A great sound of the era.

I saw this ensemble at Villanova and Irvine auditorium at the University of Pennsylvania around this time. I remember the white strat. I can’t say for sure but the Firebird really sounds like the original record tone. I always thought his take was the most interesting rhythmically because of the phase shifters.

I loved Dylan's original and the Hendrix cover, but Dave Mason is just so much better as a lead vocalist.

I wish the band members were listed. Pretty sure it's Mike Finnigan on Hammond, Jim Krueger on guitar and Rick Jaeger on drums, but am unsure of the bassist. Anyone know?

This was pretty much Dave's band during the 70s, except the bass player. The regular guy was Gerald Johnson (see pictures in the Certified Live album). Anybody know who this guy is?

I agree but back in the day if you were in a garage band this is the version you played because nobody could come close to duplicating Hendrix. Maaon's version will always have a place in my heart.

Love Jimi’s, but Mason’s version on Certified is the best recording of this song ever. No Doubt. No doubt at all.
