@@FoxYinnyy *Spoilers* From the context of the Chapter 3 Phaethon storyline, the Marionette Dancers (Ethereal Enemies) are assumed to be born from the corruption of a pair of twin ballet dancers (the actual ballet twins, in a sense) who were scheduled to perform at the Ballet Twins (building) but the building got swallowed up in a hollow just before the performance was to happen. While it isn't ever explicitly concluded as such, the fact that corruption turns humans into ethereals (Silver->Dullahan, Prologue) and that the marionette dancers incorporate dancing into their fighting style and function as a pair suggests that it is the case. A Side Story commission has you meet the grandfather of the twin dancers, and he sends you into the Ballet Twins building (and goes in himself) on a few errands related to said dancers. In this commission, it's concluded that during the hollow disaster, the twin dancers stayed behind in the building's PA room and guided the panicked audience to evacuation before ultimately succumbing to corruption, and their voices lingering in the building at the time of the commission turns out to be the work of bangboos who are playing their voice recordings to guide present-day hollow raiders out to safety. Said bangboo gives you a different voice recording, which turns out to be from the twins in their last moments containing their final words to the grandfather, saying...I honestly don't remember what it was off the top of my head, sorry. Point is, they left a dying message that helps the grandfather move on from his fixation on their fate and that wraps up the commission storyline.

It might sound weird but I love how ZZZ has been able to create a world that feels very alive and frightening. Not everything is sunshine and rainbows and it doesn't shy away from that fact
