Summary- What are biosphere reserves? Protected Land areas where alongwith plants animals and wildl8fe, conservation of traditional lifestyle of tribal people living in those areas. One or more than one wildlife sanctuaries or national parks can be present in a biosphere reserve. *. Terrestrial, marine or both *. Economic and social development *. Preservation of nature and cultural values *. Example of human and natures coexistence. Divided into 3 zones- 1. Core zone- most protected part 2. Buffer zone 3. Transition zone Core zone- 1. Endemic plants and animals 2. Endangered species and their wild relatives. 3. Scientifically important genetic species. 4. National parks and wildlife sanctuaries, free from human interference Buffer zone- 1. Activities that help in Transition zone- Human and nature exist in harmonious way Criteria- 1. Protected and minimally disturbed core area, biogeographical unit 2. Enough space to hold Viable population 3. Involvement of Local communities and knowledge participation 4. Sustainable development 3 pillars- Social, economic and environmental protection Socio cultural and ecological sustainable economic and human growth. Govt can announce through notification Unesco MAB program nomination MAB- inter governmental scientific program-1971- people and environmental relations scientific improvement- human livelihood improvement and natural resources safeguard- economical development motive socially World network of biosphere activities. 1. Yah he confused...agastyamalai I visited I know it's starts from Tenkasi of Tamil Nadu and ends in keralas Pathanamthitta district.. i went sabarimala through this route only ....I'm from Tamil Nadu I know this place well than teaching staff... ,sabarimala, kulathapuzha,Achankovil, ayyanarr Sastha temple,pandhalam, ariyankavu sastha temple, thenmala, papanasam etc are the important place 😂 Agastyamalai biosphere evergreen ghat section ❤
