The game was amateur back then so it was pretty easy to have the game on free to air television. Even in South Africa it used to be on free to air until 1996 when professionalism emerged.

@@theultimatesharpshooter6734 And it ruined the sport. The smart thing was to have allowed semi-professionalism, meaning top players could be sponsored by advertisers, but not paid to play directly. Most would have had to keep their day jobs, but the top players would have been working as advertising promoters.

All Blacks at the end of a long tour of Australia and South Africa. Their players having to adapt to playing at altitude for the first time. They dominated the game and it was only in the last few minutes that the score closed up.

the boks were outplayed for most of the game, suspect the AB's took the foot off the gas in the last 10 & fatigue from altitute took its till, to their credit the boks scored 2 late tries to flatter the scoreline

Nah i doubt it mate. I actually remember the springbok coach at the time saying the all blacks would beat them, and don't forget it was held in nz too. Simply out of internationals for too long at that point as this match showed.

Took you 24 YEARS to win your 2nd World Cup. So you can not say that the boks would not have won the 87 and 91 World cups. They probably could have. The fact of the matter is that the all blacks just are not that good anymore. They are not that feared team anymore.
