I remember Kiryu being pretty forgiving of Oda AFTER the reveal of what he did to Makoto, telling him to survive when Kiryu and Makoto are escaping and flashing back to an image of both Tachibana and Oda when he was about to kill Shibusawa, showing he wanted to avenge both of their deaths. But I guess 36 years later made Kiryu go “…Wait, he was a human trafficker. Screw that guy.”

that was one of the things that threw me off in Y0, so I'm glad to see Kiryu acknowledge that Oda was a scummy person here. Even though Oda sacrificed himself so Kiryu and Makoto could escape, it doesn't excuse or redeem what he did to Makoto in the first place. Although Kiryu wanting to avenge Oda and Tachibana's deaths seems natural (even though Kiryu doesn't like Oda) as Shibusawa was the bigger scumbag who was responsible for everything.

Its just retconing, they realised that majority of people may not like the stereotypical Japanese main character that forgives and likes a evil guy that in final moments changes his tune, especially in west, people who don’t interact with Japanese media that is, look at Goku and Vegeta, or Hokuto no Ken universe, or JoJo especially Wamuu and Joseph fight etc, it’s just a trope in Japanese media

Poor guy is sad wondering if he was useful to someone meanwhile all sorts of people he helped in the past just popped up to thank him. Hell even villains grew respect for him after they got to know him - Oda,Kuze,Awano,Shibusawa,Ryuji,Mine,Someya,Sawashiro and lots of other goons. He isn't just an in-game legend,he is one of the best protagonists in the video game industry.

Looking through the video, and it looks like 30:10 is the only mention of the Florist and Purgatory. They were a major part of the series since Yakuza 1 (even showing up in the Kurohyou PSP games) and it just disappeared out of existence in Yakuza 6 with zero explanation of what happened to it. Hell, in Kiryu’s narration, he’s even saying “I wonder if Purgatory ever existed at all…” almost like RGG is telling us it just doesn’t exist anymore. Also, 3:30 is the only mention of Reina.

There are so many heartbreaking things in the Bucket List really, Kashiwagi and Kiryu talking while not actually acknowleding one another while they talk, the Doc Emoto scene and the whole Four Shine thing even though they do recognize him. We´ve had Haruka and Haruto visit him in the hospital, but I sincerely hope that while Ichibans story goes on in the next installment, that Kiryu really gets to meet the Sunshine orphans again, with the ending of Gaiden I actually expected it would happen this game, but here´s to hope it will happen really next time

They just really didn't wanna. Kiryu and Tanimura were never THAT close anyway, they only knew eachother for a little while. Kiryu holds him in respect (i'd respect anyone who could slog through the munekata fight) but they just didn't spend much time together.
