The Star Fox 64 Restored OST is one of the many results following the "Gigaleaks of Nintendo" from July 24th and 25th, 2020. Found in the files of the game were not only all of the uncompressed voice lines, but also uncompressed instrument samples for the music, as well as the MIDI sequences used in the game to perform the music. Using the instrument samples and MIDI sequences, I was able to recreate the entire soundtrack to Star Fox 64 in the highest quality we have ever heard.

I dont know if you guys ever notice a little detail in the cinematic that plays with this. You can see behind the Great Fox a Star moving like a shoting star after fox is ask "whats wrong" and he say "nothing, nothing is wrong".

I noticed that when I was very young and that it only happened in the expert route. I always believed it was James' ghost disappearing into the distance.

I always liked how relieved Peppy sounded when Fox emerged victorious. The man had to go through James sacrificing himself so Peppy could escape. Imagine the stress he was feeling that Fox was facing his father's killer all alone, and then BOOM, Fox flies out of the base... Thing... That Andross was hiding in, his friend now avenged and his torch now passed on. What an ending man.

I was 9 years old when I got this game and at first it was really, really hard for me. I was so happy and excited when I finally beat it. It was also the first game that I had ever beaten. This game and this track is special to me because of that.

So did Koji and Hajime both use the same samples and soundfont, but just write different compositions with it? Or did each composer use a separate soundfont?

They both used the same samples, I assume just to keep the soundtrack from sounding extremely different between the two composers. There are some samples that one used that the other didn't, one example being the main melody instrument in Sector X.
