The reason Thailand and Cambodia look sinilar is because Thailand colonzied Cambodia for hundreds of years. During this time, Cambodian royalies were educated in Siam and brought back Thai cultures to Cambodia.

Cambodia recived it's influnce from India since the 6-7th century where an indian merchant name Kundinya married a Cambodian princess Soma. With that, the hindu culture was brought from India to Cambodia such as the story of Ramayana, The churning of the ocean's milk, clothing, architecture styles, religion etc. Thailand received many cultural influences from Cambodia such as their architecture, dance, story such as the ramayana, etc.
