Great times. Lots of great memories of the Late 60s Early 70s Skinhead era. The music the clothes. Life on the football terraces. Liquidator. Double Barrel etc. Hobnail boots. Dm's Levis. Donkey jackets. Crombies. Ben Shermans and Fred Perrys. Brogues and Tasselled loafers. I was a 16 year old Skinhead back then and still a Skinhead today at 70 years old ......2024. Skinheads Life Would Never Be The Same.

I was a West London Chelsea Shed Skinhead 1968/71. Got me in a load of trouble with Gangs and Football, But had a great time, Comradeship, Loyalty, Excitement, That can only happen in The Teenage Years, Most Lads including myself went on and became upright citizens and had families, Some Lads fell by the wayside and didn't make it.

Roy Weatherhead ~ Yeah, Brilliant i bet that you have seen some amazing things & have some great memories and stories. i was a Skinhead from 1979 - 1987 so i missed it the first time around because i was too young. So we listened to a mixture of Ska & Oi! Music. This Movement was to influence many young people & one of these young people was a young man called Ian Stuart. Ian Stuart, Like so many young men dreamed of a career in Rock ‘n’ Roll. But when in 1977 he formed Skrewdriver, A Punk Group Based in North West England, No one could have predicted the rollercoaster ride that he was about to endure. The Hard Rock Scene & The Punk Movement had a Lot in common with their violent & aggressive style of rock music . Motörhead & Lemmy used to be covered in Nazi Rock memorabilia , & Siouxsie & The Banshees were Pictured with a German Luftwaffe Eagle & swastika on her black shirt. Like Lemmy Said = “The Bad Guys throughout history always had the best uniforms. . . When you think about it . . . . . They were the Rock Stars of their day” So with two singles and an album recorded Skrewdriver were heading for the dizzy heights of rock stardom, But when their concerts became battlegrounds & gained the band a reputation that saw them Banned from London venues, Disowned by their record label and slaughtered in the mainstream music press most people would have put it down to experience & shuffled off into a Dystopian day Job. it is testament to the resilience of Ian Stuart that against staggering odds he refused to be defeated. This Remarkable Story is well documented in the fascinating book called = “The Ian Stuart - Skrewdriver Biography” This records the historical journey that started as a highly rated punk vocalist mixing with the likes of ~ The Sex Pistols, Bob Geldof, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Motörhead, Iggy Pop, Sham69, Sting from the Police, & Suggs From Madness. Right the way thru to National Front Demonstrators, British Movement Marches, Ku Klux Klan Leaders, & Top Skinhead Recruits for the Blood & Honour Organisation that he founded back in 1987. The Record Shops refused to sell his albums, Yet they sold thousands, His Concerts were starved of any publicity, Yet even his enemies would admit that he could easily fill venues as big as the Royal Albert Hall. This Remarkable in-depth story traces his early beginnings in Blackpool through to his Murder as a National Socialist & Skinhead Legend in 1993. Yeah, we’ve all heard stories about rebellious Punk Rock Stars, But this is a Truly unique account of a Rebel with a Cause, & one who lived through the Pain, Pressure, & Patriotic Pride that was his Life. Even if you Revile this Rock Movement, it’s ideas, & it’s Rock Music, This is a very interesting & important piece of Social & Youth Culture History.

I was a Chelsea skinhead aged 15 back in 1969. First home game was in 1965. Shed End, The Middle, from 1969 until 1989, then the North Stand [Mathew Harding Stand] until the West Stand was complete and been there row 21 ever since. Still a skinhead, still wearing my Solovair boots, still wearing polo shirts with three-quarter inch red braces, oh and a naturally [nowadays lol] bald nut. Love being a skinhead approaching 70, I will always be a Skinhead Forever and Forever a Skinhead 🤜🏻🤛🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

The memories. Very happy days. Shedboy in 1969. Suedehead till about 72. Then I fell in love with motorcycles. And loved heavy rock but not as much as proper ska. Liquidator still plays at Stamford Bridge, but the silly prices keep me away. I just don't know how people can afford it. Most youth violence is black on black now, down here in London. I'm coming up to my sixty-second birthday, and my best friend is a week older than me. All we talk about is the old days. I known him since we were six years old at Primary school. Bikes were the last thing to go for me. I rode my Guzzi 850 till I was 47. Married, divorced with a 15 year old boy who lives with his mother. I just don't think he would even understand gang loyalty, he's never had to deal with it. I sometimes wonder what he will look back on when he gets old. Frankie Vaughn though.

Reagen was from the Central Station gang. He had a lass in Whitley Bay who was best friends with my girlfriend. On a good day he was a sound guy but on a bad day, especially match day, he was mental.

About 20 of these assholes jumped myself and a couple of friends at the top of Grainger St. in about 1970 or so. We were just walking along minding our own biz when they attacked. One of my Scotswood friends at Slatyford identified them for me. I still have the scars on my head from the Doc Martins. My family is from Scotwood too. Ironic seeing them so romanticized now They were little pricks. I also knew the so-called Throckley Mob aka Blackburns. They were to be reckoned with.

You can trace Newcastle's skinheads back to the famous film of 'Eccles' a Chelsea skin head leading his firm around the Gallowgate c 69 all the Geordies have long hair Eccles is sporting a number 2, side burns, Harrington and braces. Not saying they were harder than the Geordies every London club respected them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWS7p6R_ap6Umpo

Interesting that the sequel concentrates on individuals and nostalgia. We seem to have lost the motivation to examine societies problems honestly in the way Stanley Cohen did in the original. Sad.
