I think that the Special Stages of this game are one of the few moments in my life where I can really feel my heart beat very fast....
@rapseocr65855 ай бұрын
A tip that you don't usually see is that you can play the special stages with multiple people on splitscreen since that's allowed in tournaments and normally that makes special stages harder because the UFO doesn't stop as much as with one person but it makes Gallery's diffculty drop a lot. You can have one person focused on hitting the UFO and the other on hitting the target, taking most of the pressure of the stage away and you also only need one person with gacha bombs left to beat it you can waste a lot trying to hit things faster if you're in a hurry. For Atlantis, the ramp at 24:24 is easier to HOLD and make an L instead of cutting through all the obstacles since the boostpads are going to keep you moving anyway. You control yourself more and if you get hit with spikes of the far wall you don't get send flying and then just spindash up to the springs. This is a nice video with a lot of good tips. Good work 👍

Pretty much any item thrown forward that aren't Jaws deal a lot of damage. If you can figure out good places to throw triple orbis, you won't need much more to break the catcher.

fun fact: the distance from the emerald actually influences the items in your roulette and it's not that much of a discrepancy between close and medium distances the items on medium distance include triple orbinauts single orbinaut double sneaker double jawz a couple times maybe some more repeats in this sequence I don't know how long it is but it's very valuable if you want to try breaking the bubble early for an easier time focusing on the road the far distance items are the same but I think one of the items is replaced by an SPB

I'm glad that a video like this exists so people can suffer a bit less and get through the sealed stars stages easier, because seriously these stages can be the difference between a S-Rank run and repeating again the whole cup specially with the CPUs and cheating rivals One thing I always do in these levels is that at the very beginning of the stage, don't use any rings to catch up the UFO and so get good items from the first box like you did, this is useful specially on Spikes (SS 6), Steeple (SS 10), Rooftops (SS 11), Roulette (SS 12), Towers (SS 13), and Atlantis (SS 14).
@marcuso73504 ай бұрын
the triple orbinaut at the start of somee stage is so goated, especially at steeple where you can get a guaranteed break with three orbinauts at the start ramp and the bananas before the big spring jumps, while in atlantis you can repeat the same ramp strat from steeple with the orbinauts and even break and grab the emerald before entering the underwater section
@ZesTofthelemon5 ай бұрын
I'm honestly amazed at how you got through all of these without Sliptiding once, especially on Rooftops and Atlantis. On Rooftops, Sliptiding makes the slope section with the free Jawz (18:34) go from easy to a complete cakewalk. Hell, you even did it by complete accident when you E-braked. In terms of Atlantis, on the section where you say you need luck (24:23) just go straight to the top lane where the SPB is (you need to Sliptide for the faster turn speed) and you'll completely bypass the luck check.
@turca74615 ай бұрын
Also if you Voltage drop on the section right before the spikes and then trick to the right you can skip that section, It's easy enough to land that I have never played that section once.

A technique I use that consistently works is what I call the "SPB Gambit" - it involves deliberately staying in place on top of a capsule and let the Emerald gain distance from you early on in the stage, spamming any item you get from the capsule until you get an SPB. The SPB will give you the boosts you need to catch up, as well as the Emerald slowing down due to rubber banding. The tremendous damage will give you the edge you need to deal the last hits to free the Emerald, allowing you to focus on chasing it down.

some tips for roof tops: - you are pretty much guaranteed a triple orbinaut from the starting item box if you spam the item button the moment you pick it up - you can use all 3 orbinauts on the gem right before the first spring jump. its easy to replicate every attempt and gets you an immense headstart on damage. with this ive managed to break the claw within the first 25% of the level - if youre having an issue where after ebraking onto the springs you keep ebraking until you fall into the abyss, its because youre still holding ebrake even after youve touched the springs. you need to fast fall into the springs and let go before you hit them - you can use ebraking on the final narrow stretch in order to slowly get around the offroad section
@rivertamaa6 ай бұрын
TIP: When you have the chance, always use banana snipes since they deal a good damage, Reaching the 6 Damage Per Hit. its one of the best items to use on the Ufo Catcher. (Garden Top Deals damage too by the Consecutives hit and sometimes it turns out as an HitKill item, But he Doesnt shows up on Special Stages so often.) (Same case for the SPB, but he doesnt do any Consecutive Hits.)
@000adrianelpiola0005 ай бұрын
Gallery is an easy map. Follow this strat: First, shoot 2 balls at the first road and one to the interruptor. Not 3, but 2. If you shot it with 3 the ufo will be run away. Second, another 2 balls and one to the interruptor. Third, try to hit it with 3 balls and the forth use it at the interruptor. Forth, simply follow it. Remember, you must hit it 10 times, or 7 and one SPB. 2 + 2 + 3 = 7! And in the line road with lot of rings you can shot it 3 times, breaking the ufo before the last spring. OR you can simply try to not fuck it and use 3 balls to get the SPB.
@pinguin48985 ай бұрын
in my experience the time attack special stages are done in gear 2, making both you and the ufo catcher slower. but on vicious I had the emerald go faster than in time attack.
@EggmanDrCuckooMan6 ай бұрын
So, I haven't necessarily tested this rigorously, but I'm pretty sure Special Time Attack is locked to Gear 2 and not Gear 3 - when going for emeralds on Vicious and Master, I noticed that strategies I could reliably perform on Intense and Time Attack became either much harder or simply didn't work. Most notable off the top of my head is the start of Atlantis, where on Intense and TA, I can pretty reliably get in two hits just from natural speed boosts down the ramp - but on Vicious and Master, I can only ever get in one hit from ramp speed. (I play Bomb primarily, in case this happens to affect this strategy.) Atlantis in particular feels so much harder on gear 3, and the tension from going into it from Egg or Skate cup and knowing how much you'll have to repeat if you fail is *brutal.* I resorted to making a custom cup with just Test Run and Atlantis so I could practice Atlantis on gear 3 without all the pressure of a good Egg/Skate run riding on me. EDIT: Couple extra tidbits now that I've watched the video: Rooftops: You don't need the sneaker to cross the final gap; if you ride the edge precisely, you'll glide right over regardless of your speed. This is consistent, just difficult to hit and easy to choke from pressure. Towers: I find it's better to spend rings through the ramp and floating platform sections than to stop and spindash through so many gaps. Once you get the initial speed to make it, it's better to maintain that speed than to stop and start so much, especially if you still need to break the catcher. (Side note, I've never actually used the top to break the catcher - I have good luck using Jawz in the pillar section and then following up with a proximity bomb after to get early breaks. Atlantis: If you don't break the catcher before the underwater section like in the video, the catcher is nigh-guaranteed to speed up enough that the next item box will almost certainly present an SPB; it's so consistent that it's a cornerstone of my strategy. Paradoxically, the topmost path on the big slope afterwards might actually be the safest, especially on gear 3 - it poses the least risk of going too fast and hitting spikes, and provides a straight path to the red springs rather than demanding a sharp turn before the spike wall. (Later edit: caveat to this - keep your finger off the accelerator while doing so. Further practice has shown this to be a lot harder if you don't let go and let the sneaker panels dictate your speed, which might be good to keep in mind regardless of your preferred route through the slope. You may also have different results with higher weight characters - again, I play Bomb, the fastest and lightest weight in the game, which definitely affects the kinds of turns I can reliably take. The top route provides a straight shot to the springs, but it's narrow and you need to be able to hit it straight on and avoid the spikes. Finally, be careful with the top route if the catcher is still intact - if it gets ahead of you, you need to be very careful not to smack into it before the springs or you *will* go flying off to your doom.)

A few tips from my experience: If you think you can, try to go for multiple banana/gacha snipes in one motion, as in... Lob the item multiple times. Because there's no i-frames, plus a bit of hitstun when damaged, you can potentially knock a HARD chunk out of it, especially if you hit multiple bananas. Throwing twice is usually a safe bet, especially if you only have gachaboms, but getting three tosses in is a JUICY 18 damage. By that point, anything'll shatter it. Orbis are also a more optimal form of damage due to the... well, 1 additional damage over jawz PLUS the fact you can get 3 instead of 2 from an item box. During the beginning, it's sometimes (for super emeralds, usually) more optimal to wait before chugging rings so instead of getting a close range item set, you get a medium range item set (with the duo jawz, tri orbis, duo boosts (no SPB yet), instead of only single jawz, single orbi, single boost, etc) then close the distance and knock half the health off with orbis. But do note, if you run into the catcher with jawz/orbis, the hitstun will let you go through it AND make all additional items hit it. It's still good if it happens with triple orbis, but you only get half yield from them if you do. This is especially an issue at close range with tri-orbis, due to the hitstun from a thrown orbi making you run into it (like in 4:13) Also... Be wary when ramming into the catcher. You can easily either whiff it, or bonk yourself off the map, or lose too much speed when you need speed. (Edit: 15:46 HOLY SHIT, I USUALLY JUST STEP OFF THE GAS AND GRAB TRIPLE ORBIS HERE, DAAAMN. OR YOU CAN TRY THIS OUT!) *TAKE CAUTION WITH THE GARDEN TOP.* It can and will backfire on you. Sometimes it'll make the emerald speed off (though it can sometimes kill the emerald in a couple hits), it can bounce back and deck you in the face, launching you into the stratosphere... And, of course, it's a terrible item if you find yourself in the wrong spot without the right training. It is a POWERFUL item if used right, granted, but it is a RISKY one. Just one note: *DO NOT DRIFT OVER WATER; YOU WILL FALL.* Master it with care! Also, feel free to cut through the bumpy offroad at your discretion without boosts, like for triple jawz. Just note, the bumpiness is NOT for show; It ruins your turning ability. Gravity Hold and spindash is your friend if you are in trouble.

Two extra tips that I have I know this should be a no-brainer but if you’re not doing any sort of time trial or anything like that, take the special stage slow and be extremely careful. It’s also possible to catch an emerald with a jaws or maybe some kind of item. I haven’t tested it fully, but if you’re in a pinch and you have an extra item on you, give it a shot.

Basically here's the damage values fro what i understand, i might be wrong about them - 6 hp from bombs, thrown bananas, and spbs - 4 hp from thrown orbinauts - 3 hp from thrown jawz, garden top (not sure if its the same for thrown and ridden) and boosts (boost damage stacks just like the boosts themselves, ive gotten 9 hp on a hit from 3 boosts) - 2 hp from rotating orbinauts, rotating jawz, gachaboms, ballhog bombs (i think?) and starionary bananas Someone pls give me the instawhip and electric shielddamage, I've never hit the catcher with one before Lmk if i missed anything and I'll correct it Also, other stuff! You actually don't really need the speed shoe to get past the ending of rooftops, I've done it without one multiple times, the key is to stay riiiiiiiiight at the edge as you're hitting the rough part which shoulf give you enough time to make the turn out and back in Also for towers, if (like me) you're having trouble using the garden top, i have a strat that can also be pretty tough but might be slightly easier (imo, at least). Like i said, bombs do 6 damage. If you can manage to stop yourself JUST in time at the ledge, to the point where you're not gonna fall off and the catcher isn't gonna hit you, you can throw the bomb into the path! Combine that with an spb and the orbinauts from the beginning and you have a VERY easy win
